I watched the second episode on Saturday. Very dull. The show has no sense of humor. Much like Terry.

It's all "YOU MUST SAVE THE WORLD. AND BE REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT IT. SERIOUSLY."

Dull, dull, dull.

Though the chick playing the Confessor has some rocking cleavage shots.

Rodoe I loove you in a hetro way. You just dont change!

i enjoyed goodkind's first few books, and skimming over all the "catch up story" and preaching, confessor was pretty good. my first impression was that the show was gonna suck balls. well after the two hour premier, my suspicions became reality. Fail. unfortunately, a friend of mine encouraged me to watch and see if it became anything worth watching. well, i find it is progressively getting better. the plot is actually deviating from the straight arrow "gotsta save the world from a badguy" and they even have slightly comedic scenes (unfortunately, the bad acting from every character but that of the hot chick playing kahlan ruined those moments). so, at its best, Legend of the Seeker gets a 2 out of 5.

Cleavage shots are really the only thing this show has going for it. I like Kahlan's boobies. I would watch them bounce around in slo-mo, if it didn't mean actually watching the eye-bleedingly bad rest of it.

Really, this show, like the books, is some of the worst entertainment that's ever been made available for public consumption....

Don't ask me why, but I watched this again recently...

Richard's time with Denna lasted exactly one episode...

Apparently Mord-Sith have the power to make their enemies swords turn red-hot (so they can't use it to kill them) and bring people back to life with their breath...

Seriously...

*Richard brandishes his sword of truth at Denna* "I'll kill you or something!"

*Denna stares at his sword, turns it red.*

*Richard drops it* "Ouchie!"

Later...Richard kills Denna...but as luck would have it, there's a mord-sith nearby who puckers up to dead Denna and releases some sort of life force from her mouth into Denna's, bringing Denna back to life....

Sigh. No one else watches this crap...why do even bother...

I doubt it'll last much longer than its first season...the whole show reeks of fail.

It's just horrible. So horrible. It actually is worse than the books, which is a fucking feat in my book.

I was wondering how they would manage to put mord sith on TV. Im amazed goodking let them pollute the purity of his message by changing anything about his books. I mean does one capture the truth of objectivism wihout lesbian torture scenes

I need to add some objectivity to this discussion. I for one enjoyed reading The Sword of Truth series. I, like so many others got TIRED of his need to re-explain everything anew like there were soooo many people jumping into the series on the 5th book. It is a true statement that in retrospect the comparison to Dragonball Z was EPIC in it's realization. Actually being something of a fan of the series you can imagine how interested in a series on TV I was. So when they aired, I DVR'd them.

IT WAS A MISTAKE TO ACTUALLY WATCH THEM THOUGH. OMG.

Literally, having read the books, re-read some in my case, having the series SODOMIZED in such a way made the pain personal. For anyone who even considers watching this series on TV, be aware that the FAIL level of this adaptation is a 9 out of 10. I personally found it to be the most offensive book to TV ever, and i'm easily amused. Seriously, I watch Spongebob Squarepants out of habit when my son isn't home. If they continue this series on past content from the first book, it's only because they've already paid ahead for the TV air time and the network blew the money on beer before it knew how bad this series really was.
If your cat wasn't meant to fly, why wouldn't they make them bigger?

Surely sodomizing the books would raise the bar considerably?

I watched the trailer and it looked so epically bad I simply couldnt force myself to watch it

No.

The movie multiplies the FAIL present in Goodkind's books (and this is coming from someone who read the whole series and owns the last two books).

On a side note, I initially typed my sentence as "the book multiples the FAIL present in Goodkinds books...". Hahahha

I didnt mind the books, the preaching was annoying as was the need to explain things so many times, but that preview looked shitty, I cant believe anyone would even consider watching it, the guy who plays richard lookes like a weiner, he looks like hes somebodies bitch. Richard was described as being a big person in the books, I also noticed that there was five men chasing Kahlan, since when does a quad mean five? Terry Goodkind isnt that bad an author, he was a logical next step from Dragonlance and David Eddings, but to make his books into a tv series.........I am speechless.........

sometimes I wonder if the gift of revelation, of discovering the means underlying humanity, offers nothing more then the devastating sense of futility, it is the ignorant who find cause and cling to it, for within that lies the illusion of significance-steven erikson.

DIE! DIE! Bad show is bad...

Seriously, this has gotta go down in history as one of the worst series ever. I watched it for like 5 brain-numbing minutes today....who actually likes this show? Even the most die-hard Goodkind fanatic can't think this is good television.....

Cancellation is imminent, I imagine.

My curiousity has been aroused
who ACTUALLY likes this?
do the badkind fanatics over on the sot forums really like it? why hasn't it been cancelled.
I'm heading voer there to investigate.
If I'm not back in a half hour.
Honour my memory

I like it. I've continued to watch it, and while its not the most fantastic, or even good show, I can watch it high and thats good enough for me.

a mixed bunch.
ranging from the raging idiot:

The LEGEND OF THE SEEKER is a thrilling, action packed show that I will watch week after week. If I cannot watch it, I hope to DVR the show or find a repeat after the first run of the episode. The computer generated animations are quite insane (well, most of them…) The People Palace, I am just speechless on what it looks like. There are so many questions that the show now presents and I am assuming after a while those questions will be answered…I also like the music between the difference scenes throughout the two episodes. Hopefully there will be some sort of soundtrack. I know I will purchase it. I do like how the episodes present a new problem in each one. They will keep the audience entertained each week and no matter when they view the episode. I find that they made good choices on the cast as well.

to the moderate idiot (hates the show but loves the books)

I'll admit it, I'm incredibly disappointed. Like many other fans I've been waiting for this show to air for what seems like an eternity. And I'll be honest I WAS expecting something to match Goodkind's epic. This.... this atrocity didn't even come close.

I don't wish to seem negative, I'm giving my purely honest opinion. This was not a change in the story, I am very sad to say that it is a bastardization.

and then theres the real diehard book fan, his complaints I found to be ridiculously ridiculous

DaltonCampbell said:

I am a die-hard fan of the SOT series. Having read it too many times to count, I find this 'episode' disturbingly unrealistic & a farce to the true telling of Richard & Kahlan's beginning together. It doesn't follow the book at all. It is so far from the written form it is tearing it apart. I am so disappointed.

So many details aren't even close. The cut of Kahlan's dress - the handle of the Sword of Truth (leather rather than the wire-bound handle) - Darken Rahl's hair is the wrong color. Kahlan bringing Richard the Book of Counted Shadows? *sigh* I can go on and on about discrepancies but I won't.

It saddens Me beyond belief that Terry would allow this television series to be so far from his amazing piece of literature. It almost brings Me to tears. I'll not be watching it anymore.

The cut of her dress? thats really a concern?

the mind boggles.

but theres alot of love for the show there, coupled with a lot of contempt (all contempt seems to be made with a comment about how epically awesome the books are, hahaha)
