I received a call yesterday from Origin Energy to the effect that the person who had to read the meter for the changeover from the previous resident to myself couldn't gain access, so had to come through the house to get to the tiny back yard. I asked when had they been there and was told (by the woman with the appallingly thick accent, after several times I had to ask "say again?") around 1pm. When I mentioned I had been there since 1030am, they changed it to 1020am.
So she said the meter reader would be here "between 8am and 1pm" today. I asked for them to call me before arriving, but was told "they don't carry a mobile phone". I reacted with considerable incredulity

(Mum was there, I was polite), so spent my first night here last night on my new comfy bed of comfiness. Been waiting since 8am and it is now 1213pm. If they don't arrive by 105pm I am going to place a very irate phone call to Origin Energy.
