Heat did me. Got to the gym yesterday, was prepping to go into the work room and promptly puked.

Turns out I had heatstroke, so I had to take yesterday off of work to sort myself out. Not fun.

That's horrible. Did you walk out in the 34C/90F weather for a while?

I've started using a loose sun shirt and a hat/sunglasses to get through long hours outside. Really keeps things cool.

Nah, it's being inside and working that did it - the standard thing of very high humidity + houses designed to retain heat and that are bad at venting it means that if it gets 34 outside for a bit, it'll stay 34 inside for a few days at least - so I slept like shit and eventually it spiralled.

Things are aight now though, it's cooled down to a comfortable level again.

Guess opening windows would let too much of the eternal note of sadness rain and the drug dealers in....

Anyone have a link to a short, but effective video/article that explains in layman's terms how aggressive algorithms work on social media and YouTube, why it's dangerous and why the spread of misinformation is so damaging to the world in general?

Opening windows does nothing against the sort of heat we just had, because it's still hot outside. Even when it's not, it takes a good few days for the inside of the house to cool off, even with windows opened.

This is becoming one of those things I encounter more and more and hate even fiercer each time I have to deal with it.

I may be interested in your service, give me your roughest ballpark quote and I we can continue from there. You don't need my email, you don't need my phone number, you certainly don't require me to sign up with a password to your app or website yet. We have not started any business relationship yet, I am not a customer yet. The most critical thing I need to decide is price. If you make me go through more than 5 clicks to get it I am moving on.

The opening windows method that most of us outside the UK employ involves opening the windows at night at the coolest times, using fans to get a breeze going to move the hot air out for a few hours, then closing everything up before it gets hot again. I've started searching through appropriate sun shields to use on certain windows (the curtains are on the inside and absorb the heat inside the house) for my house. Having the barriers outside the house will help this summer.

I fear that many of us will be using similar strategies to stay cooler as our tree coverage disappears (old trees near my house in my yard and in those of my neighbors have died or been damaged/removed).

So it's a bit less daffy than initially suggested, yet this only applies if you can do that with the house.

Best of luck.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Half the issue for me is that my antidepressant makes me overheat VERY easily - so my main option is to just kind of... suffer

At least that's pretty metal.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

If you have a freezer, then if you can fit them into your budget (or get NHS or similar to pay for them) cooling vests, scarves, etc. that you prepare in the freezer should be helpful, assuming you're not already using them... they stay cold for a few hours so if you have two when one stops working you should be able to swap in the other.

And of course be as naked as feasible, and stay as far from sunlight as you can. (The sunlight is lava...)

I hate the fact that apple and my phone think they are smarter than me. When I plug you into charge, I expect you to charge. Not to 80% but to 100%. I turned off the smart charge feature but there is still a noticeable difference in how the phone charges. I’d rather the battery degrade but get 100% out of it, than get 80% out of a battery that’s performing better.
