It really annoys me how big and how many labes are in american clothes. The labels are overisized, their are normally 5 of them and they have more than ten languages. The implication is you should cut them off but that is nota great solution since it still leaves a small stub and you know the information on how to wash my shirt might be something I want to know.

One of my fillings failed at the back end of last week and honestly it's pretty painful. Booked at the dentist tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be an easy fix, but we'll see.

My high school is hosting a 20 year reunion. I certainly wasn’t going to fly to attend it but now they are also doing a zoom meeting. Everyone will have 3 minutes to talk.

I don’t know if the flaw is with me or with the idea of a 20 year reunion but I find myself completely uninterested. I know people from highschool who I speak to all the time and as for the rest if we haven’t kept in touch for 30 years do we have any reason to talk now? Even for nostalgia?

Never really seen anyone talk about one outside of TV

Depends on how much you value putting time and effort into that network of people. If not that much, send your regards somehow and keep it moving.

The high school network that people put significant time and energy into has perhaps moved more towards college or grad school these days.

Found a great sale on a very good software synth, with free resale allowed, but it seems the development team is located in Russia. Though the company is an SRO, so it's apparently incorporated in the Czech Republic.

OTOH if the price on the resale market dips below the current price I'd suppose I might consider buying it, since it (apparently) doesn't become NFR after resale.

Unfortunately I'd assume that the developers pay taxes to the Russian government, as well as of course contributing to the Russian economy....

Has anyone else had a problem with changing your password in Microsoft Authenticator? I’ve tried on my laptop and it’s phone and no matter what I type it says that the password isn’t following the rules. The rules state at least 10 characters in a certain combo of upper, lower, number, and special characters but it won’t accept anything. I’ve been in IT for years and even worked in security so this makes no sense. I’ve even tried a random password generator but no luck. I’ve also rebooted, reinstalled etc. any suggestions would be appreciated. Google hasn’t been helpful.

I’m really starting to hate Taylor Swift. Who in their right mind cares about this?

I'm imagining a nightmare in which all the stories on CNN's front page are about Taylor Swift... maybe after she starts dating President Go*-Emperor Trump, and they begin nuking windmills and sharks?...

I think the headline page has moved on since your post, you might need to link directly to the Taytay story. :p

I’ll look for it. It’s essentially a video on cnn of her putting out a fire on her stove.

Important shit, for sure. At least it proves she cooks. Don't know if the fire is an indication of quality. ;)
That would be the part where Travis put on a nervous grin as he chokes down the burnt baked goods and somehow manages to get "tastes great sweetie!" out. If he knows what's best for him he does anyway. :D

Sounds like a pleasant balmy day. :D

Now here on the other hand - we are getting down to 8 degrees overnight! I've put an extra doona (duvet) on the bed, sleeping with socks on and broken out the cold weather jacket! Madness!

You do mean 20 degrees Celsius, which equals 68 degrees Fahrenheit?... Here that's considered the greatest lower bound on ideal "room temperature". A little on the "chilly" side for some.

Here's the problem. If we Brits complain about the heat, you Ozzies pop up and go "hurr Durr you call that hot?"

We complain about the cold and along come the blasted Canadians basically doing the same thing.

Yet moaning about the weather is a national sport and something were genetically programmed to do!

It's not fair.

Relative norms mean that it's on the warmer end for that location, especially at 8 am. There's also that the houses in those locations aren't really adapted to handling heat well.

I've been in the heat dome in New York, USA for a bit. Even with a house that's somewhat designed to handle it, the heat is tough because it's also coming with sudden squalls that are very much meeting or exceeding capabilities of local water drainage systems, breaking branches (which downs power lines and wrecks people's abilities to electrically cope with the heat), and causes accidents.

The heat dome was over Philadelphia for the last few days too... 'twas 36 degrees and 70% humidity. My elderly mother emailed me several times to make sure I'm okay. I haven't been tempted at all to turn on the air conditioning. Though I've certainly taken off most of my clothes....

(Of course I mean degrees Kelvin, I'm a quantum computer! Nah, c.)

[Edit: I generally don't bother with air conditioning unless it's literally at least 100 degrees out... F.]
