I feel sorry for anyone north of me starting tomorrow through Friday. It's gonna be in the teens and 20's here so I shudder to think what y'all will be in.

Its fracking cold!

Supposed to get down to -13 tonight. And windy!

Thats -25 to most of you.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

I really need to realize that 30 year olds should not binge-drink the way 20 year olds do.

Have you guys thought about taking a swig of your drink, swishing it around your mouth, and then spitting it back out? This way you get all the wonderful flavor and none of the repercussions.

I'd suggest spitting into a cuspidor or at least a sink though. The Mrs might not be so understanding otherwise, hence "reperconcussions".

Had a nasty coughing fit two days back and now one of my fillings is intermittently painful. Hopefully the cough didn't knock it loose.

We are putting our dog down today. His illness over the last few years has progressed to where his quality of life has degraded. He's mostly blind now so he can't even play much anymore, and he can no longer control his bladder.

Fuck me. Saying goodbye to him before I left the house this morning to come to work was as hard as anything. I've been intermittently crying all the way to work, and I'm attempting to keep it together while in the office...but goddamn this is hard and sucks.

The best thing about dogs is how they unequivocally bond with you and join your family...and the worst thing is that they live such short lives.

:p

He could be a little rambunctious shitdisturber at times....but most of the time over the last 12 years, he was a good boy and a wonderful family member.

I will miss him immeasurably.

Thanks Mac. Yeah, super tough. My niece had a lovely idea though, to get an inking of his paw print on a canvas today before the appointment, to have a framed object to remember him by. It's a small thing, but it will be nice to help keep him in our hearts.

Hang in there QT.

What is messing with my groove is the realization that my father has been neglecting his health badly.

He had a small white patch under his tongue. The doctor gave him meds that worked. For some strange reason he stopped the meds by himself and told no one. That patch has grown quite a bit.

He went to the doctor today and the doctor has ordered a biopsy.

To say I am worried is putting it mildly.

White patch like a healing ulcer or different? Hound him to take meds!

Yeah he is taking meds after we yelled at him for an hour. He is quite remorseful now.

Funny thing is that anti-infection meds were working pretty well, reducing the patch and everything.

Its not an ulcer patch. According to the doctor its "Keratinised"

I'm sorry to hear that it's your dog's time. That's a very emotional and intense experience that we went through in October.

We had a vet come to our home to put Sasha to her final sleep. He did a paw print impression as she slept and my partner really liked the end result a couple days after we got over the immediacy of Sasha's death. The physical memento of the paw print touches something in my partner that helps with the grief.

We then got a new dog, Emma, three weeks after Sasha's death because my partner was ready and so was I. Emma has been absolutely wonderful and has helped us cope with Sasha's absence (I knew her for 15 months and Tina had her for 11 years).

You'll know when you're ready to open up again. But in the meantime, all the best to your family as you cope.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Just don’t rush out right away and get another to fill the coming void. Take some time.

Yeah, my wife doesn't want another pet as this has been so hard on her. Perhaps when the kid(s) are older, but for now I think we will just keep his memory well.

Thanks Amph. Kind and thoughtful words.

That is iirc what hair and nails grow from. That sounds concerning. Hmm did he feel pain or only notice it by texture, taste?

It's the protein that is expressed in skin cells to make them waterproof and tough same skin cell in the mouth but without the keratin. It's possibly just a bening lesion.

My sister painted a portrait of her friend's cat as a Christmas gift, only to find that the cat had to be put down on Christmas Eve. She decided to give the painting anyway, and though it was emotional it seemed really appreciated.

All that is to say, especially with things like etsy around, you could find someone to do a nice portrait from a photo or something. Maybe that just makes sense to me cuz my sisters have always done it. I hadn't heard of the paw print thing before, but that sounds nice too.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

My Rep Sucks! I have ridiculously low rep considering how long I have been a member of this forum. I seldom pay the rep system much attention but today this bugs me!

Thanks man. We were with him and hugging him yesterday as he drifted off to sleep. I miss him terribly.

All the super structured posts in the resolutions thread are creeping me out.

Mine would be 2 sentences.
