My feet hurt so much. I'm at the Frankfurt Bookfair, trying to hawk my skills as an illustrator, but mostly it's just days full of standing in line for 30-50 minutes, talk for 2-5 minutes, get a yay or nay, rise and repeat. All day long. The standing around for the second day now is killing my legs.

Just going to list the shit that's gone down in the last few weeks.

-wife got an infection from a blocked duct, had surgery to fix, and has been having her open wound repacked daily...well this was reinfected at some point, and now she is back on antibiotics to help it.
-mother-in-law was recently diagnosed with a slowly debilitating nerve disorder that gives her a ten-year outlook, fell and broke a rib and hit her head. Is now in hospital and has been for days...will be going to another rehab place to try to get walking and functioning again...but still has to deal with the horrible diagnosis after that.
-Dog has pancreatitis and was just diagnosed with diabetes as well...poor little fellah...and $1000's later while the wife is on mat leave...so crappy timing for both cost AND illness of puppy.
-elder niece who was in hospital with what turned out to be colitis AND a hernia and horrible pain...was finally released...well she had a seizure yesterday, so has to be retested for possible epilepsy (my sister has the affliction). She was tested a number of years ago and let go with a clean bill...BUT there was an unexplainable anomaly in the tests that they wanted to keep an eye on...this may be that. Fuck.
-mother and stepfather have to move far away (my mom stopped working a number of years ago due to health issues and was never able to find something again) as my stepdad has retired (he is 71) because he was tired of working (and too old to do the physical labor he was doing)...so they have to live on their respective pensions and therefore had to move to bumfuck nowhere as a result to find a place they can afford (they'd been renting till this point...don't ask me why). Nonplussed my mom will be far from me and her new granddaughter...and it's sent my stepdad into a tailspin of upset at having to move away and he's taking it out on everyone else...mostly me though. Because I guess I'm the whipping post....cause he would not DARE try that shit with my sister who would scream at him till he backed down or my brother-in-law who would laugh in his face...I'm nicer overall...which makes me a target for his ire at what life has handed him.

Oh dear QT, it does seem like a perfect storm of sorts, doesn't it?

Very sorry to hear about the recurring infection in your wife's case, hope the antibiotics help.

It seems to me like this would be a good time to pick your battles maybe? Give all your time and attention to your wife and dog, and once that has been dealt with, and your home is stable, you might be in a better situation to deal with everything else.

Regarding your mother-in-law, its heartbreaking, but sometimes these long term things are not as bad as first thought - my grandmother was given 10 years as a maximum for her Leukemia in 2001. she is still with us.

If it is at all possible, I would shut down your stepfather. Yes it sucks having to move away from relatives, but clearly everyone has their own problems, and nothing justifies harassing the innocent.

I hope things get better soon.

Thanks man, yeah I'm trying to focus on the positive. Luckily, we have a brand new daughter who cheers us up every day. :p

So, for anyone who believed to the contrary, F1 teams are not immune to bad management issues that hamper all companies of a certain size.

I turn up 30 mins early and ask for my contact at the gatehouse.

There's no record of me starting today.
Nothing.

So I eventually get let in and I'm out in the section I'm supposed to working in and my boss comes over to tell me that they've hardly any work at the moment and that really I should've started on a Monday and done a few weeks easing in with some buddy training.
Don't get me wrong, the guy was very apologetic, and he agreed to pay me my higher w/e shift rate while I'm here on mainstream dayshift as well as letting me stay the rest of today as he was aware of how much it has cost me to get down here and get accommodation.
But it's pissed me off.
I knew when I got my start date that a Friday first day was strange (every other time I've worked weekend shift, I've done a few weeks training initially on weeekdays) but I went with it anyway assuming that they thought I was up for the whole "deep end" approach -which I am!

So just drove home. Traffic was horrendous! Got to go back down on Sunday night to start Monday morning.
What a fuckin stitch up.

I realise it's insignificant compared to your ills QT!
Hope things pick up for you real soon!

My worldview has been rocked to its foundations!

But yeah, that does suck. You would think someone in the broadcasting field would have, like, communication skills.

Just saw the 'Logan' trailer.

It looks like they have taken the Hope/Cable storyline and just repurposed it for Wolvie and X-23.

My current state of being.

My place in the world.

Actually observing the world have fucked me off more tonight than my place in it.

We're doomed.
The next generation are retards. We are all fucked.

There was one bit of light for the youth.
I decided to.walk home. I don't live that far out, about a mile and a half. At worst two, depends on the bar I'm in.
I didn't hear in till late, was working till near 9. Only had 5/6 pints and 5/6 shorts. Just catching up and judging the youth (they failed). So yeah, it wasn't cold, getting a taxi is a shit fight, I'll walk.
A few taxis passed me in both directions.
A few cars as well.
Was getting near my house a car passed me in the opposite direction, stopped, turned around and pulled up to offer me a lift. Some young guy, like couldn't be long past his test. I assured him I lived at the next house over but thanked him for the offer of a lift.

There are still decent people in the world.

Everyone else can go fuck themselves

Socially. No. The youth are doomed. And this will fuck them. The poor kids without the iPads will take over, because they can speak to people.
I despise tech kids.

Well to keep the subject going I have a terrible hangover and the next generation in this house refuses to respect my need to lie down quietly in the dark. Absolutely appalling behaviour.

Dirty gin martinis. Shit got real last night.

Haven't people been saying this for ages? As to tech kids, every new technology gets the same flak. I'm sure when literacy was becoming a thing the older generation was decrying the end of conversations as we know them. For me at least, technology makes me more social, I'm never on the computer without booting up mumble and chatting to a few people.

Just trying to cheer you up, it's not as bad as you think, I think!
