Whatever, yuo'll only find out if you ask. And if he answers honestly, of course.

Then, when it is settled, for his next birthday, in addition to whatever you;d normally buy him, buy 1 teensy tiny biscuit, wrap it with a big pink bow and add a poem that's overly soppy emo so that he can't mistake it for anything but sarcasm, and give it to him.

Sorry, I was serious. Calling him on being sensitive to shit like that will bring it into the open. If you get into a tussle about it that's normal, guys are guys.

Just stand in front of him and ask him point blank if he has a problem. It's not the easiest thing to do, but it's the most straightforward.

Most likely you'll have it out (if he does have a problem) and get what is bothering him into the open and sort it out from there.

In my experience when I fought with my best friends in my life it either was a big blowout after which we forgave, or we shoved each other around or traded a punch or two and forgave.

Unless you slept with his sister or his mom....you can work it out.

A major fuckup by an inept coworker put the company at risk. Again. And I let it slip by my safety net somehow. I'll now have to reverse in development to watch her hands closely now. GAH.

The biscuit dimension to this story is pretty crazy! There must some other root cause which will refer to the respect issue. The only thing for it is to ask him what's up. Go along the lines of: "If I've done something to offend you, I really didn't mean to and can you elaborate so that I can avoid repeating the mistake". Then see if he comes up with a respectable reason. If he does, then fair enough you can discuss it and move on. If he doesn't then you have to decide if your friend is actually worth the hassle of sorting it out or not.

Lots of friendships die on the route through life, you can't change people so you just have to decide if the effort a particular friendship requires from you is worth it or not. Don't take it personally if someone sees your actions in a way that is not how you intended and can't understand your POV (assuming reasonable behaviour on your part of course).

Arg! The email server at work is using the same system as an VERY antiquated docket logging system that went down...so the tech guy had to restart the server. I lost email access for about a half an hour.

Then after it is restarted my Mail proggy is asking me for the password (which I only ever had to put in ONCE when I started the job a year ago), and since it is a POP server it's not something that is in Mac Keychain access. So I can't get my email. The tech guy is out at lunch....he takes long lunches....and I can't do my fucking work!

Goddamn! The server issue didn't even AFFECT me, it only had to be restarted because of the docket logging system.

I am a ball of fucking annoyance right now.

I found out this afternoon that my boss - who I really like and who is probably one of the best bosses I've ever had - is leaving the company in a few weeks. And knowing my luck, her replacement will be a total psychopath with delusions of grandeur who'll make me hate a job that I really do enjoy. Hmph.

My system only calmed down in the last few hours. Started around midnight last night. No other symptoms. Had to go to the RAP at work and get the day off, which I spent intermittently asleep.

Much better now though, I had some sandwiches a little while ago and thus far no adverse effects. Hopefully I'll be OK for tomorrow, but I'll take it a bit easy at PT.

Tried to contribute towards my PGCE application and the website has locked me out despite me confirming my email address for it. Not a massive deal but I really want this to go well.

EDIT- ignore me im a fucking idiot

EDITTED EDIT- So the website did let me in I was applying to the wrong section. However the more I look into this and the more I can see what they want from me the more im convinced that its not going to happen. I want to teach history yet my specific field is in Ancient History and all of the modules I have put down are irrelevant to the national syllabus. I am more than happy and quite looking forward to relearning alot of the more modern aspects of history but I really hope they give me the opportunity to atleast give it a go.

Oh man, if I did that they'd probably laugh themselves silly and then fire me. I'm the most junior person in my department, for one thing, and I really do not have what it takes to be the department director...at least, not yet. :unworthy:

You know it's proven that the people who get raises or promotions are those that ask for them. There is a question of qualifications but if you don't ask you won't know. Besides, asking for a promotion isn't a fire worthy offence.
