This may have been your first mistake. Take it to go if you must

When no one can see you, peek into the restroom (men's or women's). It could either cheer you up or, more likely, make you even more depressed, but you'll have quite the story to tell.

Also, spending free days in Burger King is in and of itself depressing. Be the change you want to see. Or find the change you want for two single cheeseburgers behind your couch cushion and live it up. Fuck, I don't know what I'm saying, you do you and live what you think is your best life, I guess.

It's not that BK is substantially worse than any other chain burger place out there, it's just that BK is worse than any other burger chain out there.

I j have decided that graffiti should be considered a capital crime. Such an eye sore. It’s everywhere, I’m gonna presume the houses near rail lines are harder hit because they know people on the trains can see it but not even roofs, balconies or chimneys are safe.

Proper murals, art etc I can understand but just tagging your name on every surface!

Edit- I quite like Burger King, better chips than Mcdonalds. Burgers are equal.

It bothers me how saying no to beggars can ruin my mood.

I was doing my laundry in the laundromat when I was approached by a stranger. He had a binder in his hand the whole time. I had a good idea where this was headed but he was polite so I tried to be polite. He kept trying to shake my hand but I was busy faulting laundry and had pants in my hand so tried to indicate I’d like to continue while we talk. He was insistent which bugged me since I dislike touching strangers in general but again he was so polite I found it hard to deny him and settled on a fist bump. He was young, I think a high school student based on the story. He is playing a game soon and invites me to come watch and I said I couldn’t make it, then he said because I can’t make it could I make a donation, to which I answered honestly I didn’t have any cash on me. Ever since a friend was mugged on my 21st birthday I try to avoid carrying cash as much as possible. He moved on.

I spent the next twenty minutes folding my laundry and feeling bad. He was polite, seemed nice enough and I had no money on me (though I probably wouldn’t have given anyway). Still I felt like a dick. It feels rude and impolite: I understand that this is the leverage they use but it still makes me feel bad. It ruins my mood.

I have never experienced anything like that or even heard about such a method before. Any you do see here usually just have a sign and a cup and don't bother you.
In Darwin though, I did see plenty of signs on the entrances to malls and arcades saying "No humbugging" and it wasn't until later that I figured out it was a more aggressive form of begging. Urban Dictionary has some rather ... broader ... definitions. :p

That encounter sounded more like a student tasked with collecting donations for some cause (see what I did there? Posted Image) instead of an actual beggar. That happens all the time here in the US. I have kids come to my door all the time asking for donations. If it is something I find worthy, I'll throw in a 20 spot or so. If not, I will politely tell them I already donated (telling them outright that I'm not interested seems to harsh to me). Living in NYC, you need to be able to identify the true beggars, they're pretty obvious tbh. You're going to have to shift your placid ways and be more outright defiant and emanate a "get out of my space fucker" vibe. I can do that just with body language. And being 6'3 and a looming presence, most beggars don't persist with me (or even make the attempt if I am sending out those piercing "kick rocks bitch" stare). Also, ear buds. Intensely occupied by your music works well in discouraging beggars.

Yeah I agree, not a true beggar. Still someone asking for money. As I say that’s parts of the trouble. He was polite, I didn’t want to be rude. I can imagine it’s not fun having to go around asking strangers for money. Still I wasn’t gonna donate and I said so. It leaves me feeling like I did something bad. I try to be respectful to people who are respectful. Still I find it annoying when people do this inside stores, laundromats or restaurants. These should be safe areas.

Yeah I generally just walk fast and have my airpods in and act like I don’t see or hear the real beggars when they try catch my attention. I especially find the ones who try to act as doormen at some of the nearby fast food places annoying.

Here I've heard them called "chuggers" ie "charity muggers".

EDIT: Messing with my groove is ... it's 2020 and fuckwits are still hating on kids who just want to share their love of books.
It does have a happy ending though, but it reminds me of being a kid in high school in the 80s in western NSW.

Is it just reflective of the eternal struggle between people who enjoy thinking, imagination, etc and those who want to wallow in their ignorance and bring us down?
Or is this more of a new thing as sizeable elements of Western English-speaking society emulate their champions in Trump et al and seek to bring the film Idiocracy to life?

Brooklyn depresses me sometimes:

30 min in a Burger King for dinner

1) father with his child sneaking off to the corner to down little bottles of vodka

2) woman begging for change for food for entire 30 min. Finally goes to the counter, I see her pull out a giant wad of cash and she orders coffee and nothing else. Proceeds to clean her ears out with a pick

3) women theee tables over talking about someone who just got out of prison loud enough that I know the whole story.

I'm confused as to why you're going to Burger King in Brooklyn.

KFC just disgusted me with a commercial. Donut fried chicken sandwich. I want to puke just thinking about that rich batter ball.

Hell no man

I was hungry until I read this. For that I'm actually thankful, as my next chance to eat isn't for another couple hours.

I'm annoyed that there are no direct public transit links between where I live and where I work. Mostly because the full BART plan originally envisioned never got built. Also because where I currently live fucking sucks.

Today's porn fad. Ok I very rarely watch porn but today we were curious and had some extra time to kill but like every fucking video was titled Step sis/bro/mom/dad this and that! What the fuck is wrong with today's youth producers¿ I don't want to listen to sick fake dialogue. What happened to good ole fashioned fucking porn? The pool boy and pizza boy get no love anymore.

There absolutely is a bodega near him that has cheaper food, but it's going to take trying them out to find the right one.

Desus & Mero swear by the chopped cheese sandwich that you can get at a bodega. They hail from the Bronx, so not sure if that is something that is popular or good in a Brooklyn bodega, it could just be localized.

And that's one of the reasons why they have a TB problem in NYC.
