Dear god, another meeting in the same ridiculous case. I don't understand how they can fail to understand the very straight forward message I'm giving them. Do you want to defraud the state then that's your prerogative, but I am not signing off on that nonsense.

Though as by magic a friend sent me a message today of a job opening that looks frankly amazing. My resume is straight on perfect for the job, but I am pretty sure they want someone with at least five more years of general work experience. I am too young, I think, for that kind of responsibility. Still, this is clearly a sign from the Universe that I need to apply.

I think you should tape these meeting. You may need the evidence when you show up to work tomorrow and everyone just acts like your crazy and says you have never worked at the company before. They hire a hacker who deletes all records you even attended law school. They erase your Facebook. They have to keep you quite so they hire assassins...

Apply for the Job. Amazing things sometime happen.

^^ Agree. Take that shot, and maybe you'll get a job you'll love more and move up in your career!

I don't have kids. That may be obvious.

Still you know how you can leave your dog at the kennels when you go on holiday and the vets look after them and see they get exercise and food and attention. I wonder if there is a business ppurtunity to do the same thing with kids. You have summer camp for 6 and up but we need to close the loop from 2 to 6.

Huge seminar at work today which went off mostly well, except for the part where the announcer/MC told the dignitaries to leave the hall instead of telling them to resume their seats.

There are these camps in parts of Asia where they feed them, give them exercise, and they learn valuable skills like sewing and mining.

People in my country are about to protest the upcoming price hike for petrol. Now their is a ton of things to protest in my country. However the fuel price is determined by supply and demand, the exchange rate and OPEC. My government cant magic the fuel price. I despair that this people think they can make a difference this way.

Payroll at my firm comes out of our account on wednesday night and we transferred funds to our bank account yesterday to cover it but this morning when I got to work I noticed nothing was taken from our account.
Now this is a big deal since people generally like to get paid for the work they do so i just spent the last few hours trying to figure out what the hell to do to fix this.
We couldn't get an answer from the payroll company so we were trying to get the bank to transfer funds to them directly. The CFO (who was at home, not in the office) had to drive to the bank near him but they wouldn't let him do it because his signing authority was only $25K and payroll was more. The only partner with authority over 25K is on the other side of Toronto at a mediation and we needed it transferred now so we had to draft a letter authorizing me to transfer these funds and were planning on faxing it to the mediation location where the partner was to get him to sign it and send it back so I could go to the bank hopefully before we missed our window.
We needed to get the money sent by noon since the money is paid out tonight at midnight so we were all freaking out but finally the payroll people called back and said they could debit our account directly.

That's my fun accounting story that almost gave me a heart attack because of the shit show that could happen if people didn't get paid.

Tl;DR - No payroll, freaking out, yes payroll.

Didn't pass my interview :( oh well, they have offered me what they're calling a development pathway which will give me lots of relevant experience so it's not bad at all but at the same time I was really hoping for this one.

Life goes on :)

Basically doing the job for experience then having another interview. I'm pretty young in service, comparatively, so they wanted people who has a bit more experience behind them. That they've asked me to do this is a good sign - I'll be working on attachment for about three months & getting some extra training. So it's just a longer way around doing the same thing...

Oh, are you assisting Johny Vegas?
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.
