Condolences, BK.

Day and a half away from my flight back from my vacation and back to real life. Generally things are fine, except for the past 2 days I'm being bombarded with phone calls and voice mail that I can't check, cuz it'd be along distance call to check my voicemail. And that's bending me out of shape a bit.

My complaint is small but wow! A bunny park in my city has 2000 more bunnies then they need. They decided to donate the bunnies to the local zoo to feed the lions and bears etc. People have reacted like my government said it's gonna start rounding up the homeless and executing then.

People have been saying it's cruel, that the bunnies deserve a chance at life like all animals etc. What do they think animals in the wild normally do to eat? There is talk about boycotting the bunny park, boycotting the zoo etc.

Surely these people have no connection to reality? I understand it's probably just a very vocal minority but seriously?

As someon whose family raises rabbits and then kills and eats them on a regular basis, I think your protesters are idiots.

Then again, I have co-workers who'd never eat rabbit knowingly "because bunnies are so cute", and another co-worker who plots to murder a neighbour's cat for chasing off a rabbit family that used to frequent her backyard.

Westerners are weird sometimes.

Shit, I missed this post. So sorry to hear that BK. Losing family is the worst.

Condolences, BK. At least it sounds like she's had a good long life and a caring family.

This. What do those idiots think the lions get fed on a regular basis in there? Gummy bears? The zoo is most certainly raising some kind of small animal to feed to the lions as a snack anyway, that's just an extra treat. Unless the protesters are offering to adopt all of the 2000 fluff balls themselves, they ought to shut up and stop being hypocrits.

I am just picturing a very confused pride of lions being flooded with 2000 bunnies.

I would watch the fight between 2000 bunnies and 5 lions

Also just to be clear. The bunnies will be euthanized before being fed to the lions.

Partner turned 30 this week and we are going away for the weekend just the two of us.

That's good.

The bad is that I just spent the last hour cleaning diarrhoea and vomit from my son's bed, and the lounge room, and the bathroom. ;)

He had a really active day in the sun and the temperature was pushing 30° so I am hoping it is just a touch of heatstroke and not the really bad gastro that has broken out in the area.

No but thankfully our babysitter (my MIL) is free tomorrow and Monday and despite spending the morning really unwell, Rip is a lot better now so we were able to push plans back a day.
I'm still hoping it was heatstroke and not something contagious.

Groove messing: my country's national elections. Worse, spending the day with my parents, while watching the national elections. Ugh.

I've been off the plane for less than 3 hours, and I'm already swamped with things like registering for soccer and making sure i have a kit ready (a game tomorrow, oh and one on Monday, and god knows how many after that, because apparently we're still in the running for the cup... I haven't broken it to my mother that it's possible for the next few weeks I'll have 4 games/week.)

And I also need to try to figure out what to do about my birthday plans, because, there's now ANOTHER wedding stealing my second-choice Saturday, and if I push it any further back, I'll be treading on other friends' plans.

I'm also expecting jet lag to kick in something fierce soon but i need to be up for at least another 6 hours to make the smooth transition in time for work on Monday.

And at some point I also need to mow the lawn, unpack and do a bunch of other tedious crap.

Life sucks. I want to go back on vacation, ;)

Sounds like she has anxiety issues. The idea of a funeral after having been to her own husband's funeral may of been too much for her.

Ment, I have the solution to most of your problems.

Get married. Celebrate your marriage and birthday on the same day. Use your marriage as an excuse to get other people to do mowing the lawn chores. Then your honeymoon becomes your vacation!

The following is skippable. I'm just bitching about my sister.

She is the most antisocial person I have ever met/known and it's getting worse on a daily basis ever since her husband died in 15. Always calling me to bring her to Drs appts in early AM hours before I'm normally up so I'm already cranky and then calling me after I get up and shower to tell me she cancelled.

Last year she was supposed to come help me with Old Man for a few days after a surgery. She called and told me she couldn't cause she was sick and I had to take care of him alone.

I get to funeral home today and see my brother, his mother and everyone else that was in this woman's life but I don't see my sister. I asked their mom, "where's Sisters Name?" The reply , "oh she's probably asleep in the bathroom like usual. She was taking to long so I had to leave."

I was furious. How dare she not come to her grandmothers funeral!!

My phone vibrates while the speaker is talking and I knew who it was without looking. Afterwards in the funeral train when I called her back she wanted to know if I or someone else could get out of line go across town pick her up and get back in the train. I told her no.

The best part is that afterwards when we were deciding if we wanted to go eat out as a family her mom says "let me see if Sisters Name wants to come eat" of course she did so we had to wait at the table once we got there for them to get to restaurant.

She didn't deserve this meal or the company of us as far as I'm concerned today. Today was fucked up on her part.

BK, if there has been a big change in behaviour since after her husband's death, there may be some pretty serious issues underneath.

People have strange ways of dealing with grief, and some end up never really resolving their issues. Could you talk to her? Not accusingly or anything, just as someone she can open up to?

That seems too complicated. I would need to find someone, fall in love, convince them to marry me, all in a very brief time period. And I have a feeling I'll be too swamped with work to be social in the next few weeks.

The preliminary results of the German election.

13% for a party whose leading candidate finishes his speech after the publication of the polls with "Now we will take our country back".

He didn't really loose. Last time they had less then 5% of the votes and no seat in the parliament. Now they nearly tripled their votes and will propabaly get 90 seats or more. Despite the fact that they went even more far-right since the last election.

Too big. The number is not limited due to the election laws they never fixed and now there will now be probably more than 700 seats in the parliament.
