Congrats for moving to a job closer to home. It will really help with your off-work time to not have so much of it eaten up by travel. Even if it's only a little bit different distance-wise, it will help a lot.

Yeah, they didn't make it easy though.
Offered me a promotion, car and fuel card and work from home Fridays.

I mean the money would he ace, but being able to have breakfast with my wife and actually cook her dinner for a change tops it. Currently spending 3 to 4 hours a day in the car

There it is. My hours give me the ability to not only pick my kids up from aftercare, but cook dinner for everyone. That's a huge thing and it's worth its weight in gold (or extra coinage)....you can always make more money, but the memories and experiences with your missus are priceless.

That's just my opinion mind you, you do whatever feels right for you guys.

Agree w the basis for your decision Mac, and QT's support.

You should feel good about their offer tho. that's a solid compliment even if you decline.

Yep, for sure. In fact it should tell you that if they are desperate to not let you leave, they were getting you for a song and you're worth more and they know it and only cop to that when you're willing to walk.

You should feel great about that fact regardless of your decision. It shows how good you are at your job.

Congratulations Maccy I made the change to a much better work-life balance a couple of years ago and it was one of the best things I've ever done.

I understand the individual words in the quoted posts, but the way they're strung together? Nonsense!

"Work-life" balance in the Trumperium... isn't that mostly just balancing the number of lives companies destroy against the amount of productive labor and other resource extraction they could still be exacting from them?...

"If we kill everyone, we won't have any customers... but maybe cyber-Trump will keep on paying us government subsidies? AI can pay us once all the humans are dead?"

Spent the weekend in Prague celebrating my 40th... What a beautiful city though the only sightseeing we did was whilst we were changing pubs...

I think I am still hungover and I got back Sunday, it has been a long time since we sessioned like that. but what an amazing time we had with some surreal experiences.

Definitely a recommend if you have not been before!

Hi all! It's been a while (I'm still waiting for a new Mafia game - it's been like 5 years?)

I wanted to drop by to share some good news and shameless self-promotion. Together with a small indie publisher I launched a crowdfunding campaign for Campfire, a tabletop RPG I designed. It requires no prep to play aimed for use in the classroom and towards new players: those who always wanted to try TTRPGs but found the popular systems like D&D intimidating.

I'm stoked about this but obviously need help, too. Any support, shares, and kind words are appreciated: https://www.backerki...any-story-ttrpg

(also, I'm dead serious about still waiting for a good old meat and potatoes Mafia)

Heh, the close-but-not-quite things you find on a duckduckgo search:

Good luck with the project though. :)

Thanks worry, that means a lot!

And yeah the name was a source of much deliberation with my publisher. Not very creative but we liked it so decided to stick with it Posted Image

Will do. I'm going on vacation next Friday and will be back at the end of March. Set myself a reminder to set up a game when I'm back.
