I just got contacted by my oldest friend, who I haven't seen since I moved to Brisbane (so a good few years now), and she's considering coming to visit ;)
It may not end up happening, but just hearing from her would have made me happier, this has thoroughly made my day :p

TQB shenanigans.

Plus, the word 'shenanigans' itself.

Today was a good day.

Heard from my old friend, got some cleaning done, enjoyed the company of Sombra, Shiara and Centz while putting together Sombra's awesome new computer. Sombra's awesome new computer only had a few small issues when putting together and I got it all sorted before he needed to head off.
Then had a few good games of Dungeon Defenders with Centz after a tasty dinner.
And now "The Illy" is making me laugh (probably more than it really should ;)).

So I went out drinking with a collection of friends for a belated New Years Eve party, and it was awesome. Only downside was the friend I was going to visit by train in the morning is ill, so I won't be able to head over until next Saturday. Of course, this meant I could stay out for the whole night and meet loads of new people and get a bus back home at ten to eight am in the morning, which was fun.

But that's not important, because two of my friends, the last secondary schoolmate I have left, who is also one of my very best mates, and his missus who I've known for years, are getting married this year, and they've asked me to be their best man. I of course said yes, so I'm the best man for my two best friends in the world for their weddings. The best thing about it, though? One is getting married on the 4th of August this year. The other is getting married on the 11th of August this year. This is going to be so fucking awesome.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Watched the rest of the Big Lebowski and consequently feel awesome, had a noice ol' BBQ dinner, and having fun scaring those dumb-fuck cockatoos out of our conifer tree using a high-powered hose. ^_^

I'm so fucking happy that I weathered HURRICANE MOM (which I prefer to call FLAMING-GASOLINE-TYPHOON-MOM) over my grades due to the glorious fact that I will be graduating regardless.

So happy that I started drinking. And am only disappointed by the fact that chat is down.

New computer is up and running! Yay for Luci! :D

Now all I have to do is download all the extra bits and pieces it requires to do internet stuffs. Just got flash player installed in all of 5 seonds, now just to get google talk setup so it's linked to my gmail account. It's using that "different password" thing unfortunately, so this may take a while :p

Dear God, 27" LED monitor is HUGE. ^_^

HUGE PR0N!!!! (but it really shows the problems with low resolution downloads, le sigh)

I fixed my freaking X-Box! It was a problem with the USB port, of all things... My thanks to YouTube users who showed me this problem... Now to make a start on the games I got for Christmas (yay! Assassins Creed: Revelations & Lord of the Rings: War in the North!)

Finally got out to see the new Holmes movie after many issues the previous weeks since its release.

It was pretty damn good.

After a series of crap results in 2011, my team won our first match of the season today, and we're off the bottom of the table. A bit of a nerve wracking finish but we held on for victory.

I agree, I thought it was really good. Which baffled me when I saw the mediocre ratings it's gotten, while Mission Impossible is getting almost unanimous acclaim. What is wrong with the world?!

Gav, of Roosterteeth and theslowmoguys fame apparently did most of the slow motion capture in that movie. Makes me want to go see it.

Toyed with purchasing the Alien Anthology on blu-ray because I wanted to see the movies again. Then I happened to see that Alien 3 was on last night, so I snagged it on DVR. On a hunch, I searched the upcoming TV schedule, and...all 4 Alien movies are being replayed over the next week, so I set up my DVR to snag those also! Got my wish, plus saved myself like $70. Woohoo!
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

No you didn't save yourself anything sir...but shitty TV cuts of the films.

For example, all 4 films are better in their director cut forms (Hell, ALIEN 3: Assembly Cut is 30 minutes longer and totally different), at least Ridley's directors cut of ALIEN is better and James Cameron's directors cut of ALIENS (including autogun sequence and the Colonists Last Stand at HAdley's Hope) is DAMn sure better.

Beyond that...aside from ALIEN RESURRECTION (whose transfer is poor), the first 3 films looks absolutely STUNNING on BluRay, especially the first two, for a film from 79 and one from 86 they both look like they were shot yesterday with HD camera's. they also SOUND gorgeous, as the quieter bits of Goldsmith's score on the first one really come to the fore on BluRay.

I got the Anthology on BluRay after Christmas this year and it's one of the BEST purchases I've made for the technology.

You should get it and ignore the shitty TV cuts.
