Probably the only person who could imitate Chester is Jon Howard of Threat Signal. And he gets a lot of jokes about that, and takes them like a champ. But that's by the by because as a frontman Chester is not someone you can really replace and ESPECIALLY not with someone who sounds similar to him.
I think this is the only sensible step they could have taken. I haven't listened to the new song but we'll see how it goes.

She could use AI voice changers (and pitch correction, etc.) to sound like him.
... or lip sync everything to sound exactly like him... or in the case of new music use the highest quality voice changing and pitch shifting to sound exactly like him at his best (or better, or more experimental morphing among possibilities, possible worlds even echoing simultaneously)... and then lip sync during live performances.

Why
just why?
just why?
Who would you rather hear singing new Linkin Park songs---the Linkin Park singer in his prime or some random vocalist?
Who would you rather look at---a hot girl or some dude (holographic or otherwise)?
QED
Having a female singer is more interesting, even for their old songs---it shows how they resonate across genders and individuals etc. A female singer with his voice (or AI enhanced variations thereof) is even better. And morphing back and forth between her voice and different versions or mutations of his voices would be even more interesting.
Not AI but a somewhat similar principle (wait for it... or skip ahead to 1:11):
(Incidentally that's even more impressive if you notice that she's using an Electrovoice RE20 (microphone) which unlike most microphones doesn't boost the bass by very much when the sound source is very close to the microphone---it's designed to minimize the proximity effect.)
For live shows it would be nice if the entire crowd---since they'll be scream-singing along anyway---could do so in the voice of what's-his-name in his prime (or better)...

Granted the internet is shit and full of shitty people so expect the vitriol to flow in her direction alas, but for me, pumped for new music, and we will be trying for tickets for the london or hamburg show
I like the new song, she can certainly wail! Absolutely the right thing for them to do and it seems that most people are pretty positive about it (from what I've seen).
Also as to whatever utter nonsense Azath is rambling about it's best not to feed the trolls.

Eh
Each to their own.
To your point of would I want to hear Chester, absolutely I would
But I would want to hear CHESTER, flaws, bum notes and all.
If I want to hear note perfect I put on the album. I feel like your robot brain really doesn't understand the draw of a live show and why milli vanilli got torn to shreds

It was my post directly prior to your previous post. Danny Masterson was an actor (and scientologist) who was recently convicted of rapes and sentenced to 30 years for it. A few people rallied around him in his defence and it seems the new Linkin Park singer was one.
I dunno if she did what some scientologist types did and actually threaten and harass the victims (unlikely) but it's still a bit disconcerting.

God, I've missed a good UKI dance party. Haven't been to one since one of my friends got married during covid, either 3 or 4 years ago.
feeling slightly buzzed, but overall just happy. Since the war stated there's been a sort of soft ban on major "fun" events in the community. But sometime in the fall last year I realized that in order for me to keep my sanity and be able to continue contributing to the war effort effectively, I need to get back to having a social life as part of the work-life balance. So this was a very good thing to happen.
Once I'm back from vacation 2 weeks from now, there's a whole social life roadmap ahead of me, which is a nice feeling to have. Catching up with a lot of PPL since the double-whammy of covid and the war had me largely revert to my undergrad social isolation behavior patterns feels good. Feeling a bit like a fresh start after the last 4 years of my life were just a social write-off

My SIL used to have an apartment just off downtown. Good times.

Wife continues to improve. Despite the shitshow at her work six weeks back, she's very upbeat; the manager who wrongfully canned her got canned for that act, she's on a team with a team lead she gets on with now and whose comments on her development are basically 'just keep doing what you already are because it's going well', so I'm hopeful she'll be signed off on the probation soon. Her mood is vastly up, she's not girlrotting or rotmaxxing anywhere close to as much so yeah, positives all in all.

The ray of sunshine to the other thread - the bank we use for our mortgage have said they'd support us moving to a new property and that wife's probationary period doesn't affect our eligibility very much if at all with them. So we can FINALLY go to market and start selling this damn place!

But if you move house you won't have juicy stories of all the crazy gang members the slum landlord keeps letting in to the next door!
Please, think of the WMWYG thread before you make huge life decisions!
