Got the OS installed yesterday, and the new tower is purring along decently.
The new PSU has less SATA power cables, so I had to order some adapters to make sure all the drives get enuff power. But once those arrive tomorrow, I'll be able to finish optimizing the cable placement and seal it all up, and get to actually enjoy using it.
The HDMI switch set up is working nicely, so that I can use the same screen for a gaming PC and as a bigger 2nd screen for the work laptop, alternating with one button press.

Dude that is brutal. Glad you're coming out the other side!
For me I had a check up and my hard work with eating and exercise etc means my diabetes levels have dropped quite significantly and I don't need to go on any meds. Makes it all worth it!

In related news, I've started running again! I'm planning on doing the Isle of Man half marathon in August, and this gives me a bit of impetus to actually get on with it.

Half marathon is fun, Tiste! It's not as god awful long as the full marathon, so training for it isn't a chore.
I did my first half marathon last year with 15,000 other people here in Indy. I did a 1:53, which was an average 8:37 mile. I was pretty proud of that, but it wasn't the 1:40's I was hoping for. I went out too fast (easy to do with 15,000 people around you lol).
You can smash my time!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Hah I doubt it. I did the Great North Run (along with approx 60,000 others) in 2019 in 2hrs 47mins. I am not a fast runner. But when I have a goal it keeps me going. So while I'm not likely to get a fast time I know I can do the thing. And that's achievement enough for me. Thank you for the encouragement and 1.53 is a great time!

Mate, having fun doing it, not getting injured, getting healthier, and seeing different places is all worth it. Speed pales in comparison to all that and more.
Way to go, HD and TS!

Me and wife had a productive weekend in the loft clearing out shit we no longer use/need. About twelve boxes emptied, seven bags of rubbish, another seven in donatable clothes and a massive pile of stuff she thinks she can probably sell.
I came to realise that as long as we are here I am unlikely to be able to fully relax again given the dealer situation and uncertainty around what happens next so we're getting the house ready to market again. Hopefully we'll find somewhere in a better spot soon.

Pleasantly surprised by how little it cost me to fix my car. Now, granted, it was still just shy of £500 but when speaking to the mechanic about it, he said I should expect it to be north of £500, which as everyone knows is mechanic speak for "you should probably double it" and I said the other day that I'd be happy if it was less than a grand.
So, a mechanic who does the job properly (it is fixed!) and does it with integrity without trying to rinse the customer? Very rare indeed!

Well I have some good news. Since I fractured my ribs, I have had several more fainting spells.. I haven’t mentioned it, but since my surgery last September I’ve had serious dizziness and brain fog. Well I had another fainting spell and the dizziness, brain fog, and spots in my eyes, which is pretty much how I feel before a seizure so I went to the ER. The hospital ended up admitting me, and I got lots of tests from the neurologist that he said were fine, but they kept me on meds to prevent one and held me there for more testing. Finally the cardiologist got ahold of me and ran all her tests, and we talked about when this started. Coincidentally it was right around the time they put me on blood pressure meds. Hell of course my blood pressure was higher than normal at the time. I was in a lot of pain! She determined that I was being medicated for no reason and my blood pressure was running too low! She took me off it and guess what ? I feel immensely better! My mom said she could tell the difference just talking to me! So. I’ve been suffering all this time complaining about the dizziness etc to multiple doctors, but it took a few days in the hospital to figure out why! So yay!

Next door is up for sale now. Kind of a relief of sorts.
Either way we're househunting again this neighbourhood has done enough psychic damage to me and we only ever intended this house to be a step onto the ladder, we've been here nearly five years so time to find the forever I spose.

I passed my exam with a 90% score. I'm a qualified patent paralegal!
Means a little more as after years in the legal industry as a non-degree holder being treated horribly, I don't think I ever really saw myself with a professional qualification and membership of a chartered body, with more to come too in the next couple of years. I'm going to be a while wrapping my head around this as it means a lot to me. Bouncing off the walls of my home office this morning!

That's awesome, congrats! Can you help me patent an umbrella that comes preloaded with a classic pop song that plays on repeat for the duration the umbrella is in use? (e.g. Swagger Jagger by Cher Loyd). I think this could be my big break to get on Dragons' Den.

So what I'm hearing is, between you and Simmo my cruel banishment from the UK for regrettably misinterpreted boyish shenanigans could soon be at an end?
Even better, you and Simmo could get together and create a brand new novel and TV murder mystery pairing! Together, you could be the Yorkshire Falcon ...
EDIT: initially-mismatched hard-bitten former police detective turned gumshoe, and idealistic lawyer (Ok I'm emebellishing but go with me) solve mysteries in the villages of Upper, Lower, Greater, Middle and Little Crapping, Yorkshire.
