Why the hell did they have it in the middle of the week and during the day? Not cool! If anyone can present me proof that an NFL regular season game (has to be during regular season) has been played on a Wednesday prior to today's Ravens/Steelers game, I'll buy you a PS5. DM me with the specifics. If it checks out, the PS5 is yours.

My groove is chiefly messed with these days (see elsethread) BUT as of today, I have lost ten kilos. Nyarharhar.

Also love my new job. Yesterday, everyone spent half an hour trying to catch the boss's dog in the woods who in turn was having the time of his life thinking we wanted to play.

Hermit crabs. The damn things chirp. It's ridiculously cute.

I used my vacation days strategically.

24-26 are holidays
So are the 31-1st

Didn't have any saturday shifts, so using 11 vacation days I've wrangled 23 days off. I love working for the city.

I preface this by saying we get 24 Dec - 1 Jan off for free.

I was originally going to take 19 Dec - 13 Jan off.

Then we got told to be back on deck 11 Jan. But we needed people to stay until 23 Dec. So I changed to 24 Dec - 10 Jan.

Then we got told nope, it's all good, you can come back on Jan 18. So I changed to 24 Dec - 17 Jan.

Then I get my leave denied because I'm not using enough and I was straight up told to take from 12 Dec because I have so much leave saved up (about 33 days at time of writing, this doesn't even include my 3 months 27 days Long Service Leave).

So now I have 12 Dec - 17 Jan off.

WTF am I going to do?

Do what I do. Lie on the couch and do nothing. Read, play games, ingest too many calories and act as a heating pad for the cat

After first week you probably need to go get groceries and change your position on the couch so you don't get bedsores.

No cat, just Snotface's 30kg American Staffy that we seem to have most of the time, and I am NOT acting as it's heating pad.

Besides, it's fucking hot and shitty here at the moment, why would anyone need a heating pad? The aircon is copping a flogging.

To be a dogs heating pad is a privilege. I would do anything for it. I missed dogs so much.

It’s my birthday soon. I feel like last years was a bit blue and went unremarked but this years while still low key and covidy I think will be better.

My kids favourite Christmas song is Bruce Springsteen's version of Santa Claus Is Comin To Town.

This is awesome on it's own. But the reason he likes it is a shameful story.

About 2 years ago he learned how to say "Oh for fucks sake". It was mortifying so I would tell him it's not something we say and we should say "Oh for goodness sake" instead. We made a big deal of it to save us from the shame of him saying "fuck" in public. So in Santa Claus Is Coming To Town where the lyric is "you better be good for goodness sake" he sings "you better be good for f'goodness sake" and thinks he is getting away with saying something naughty.

I can't wait till he hears the Pogues singing Fairytale of New York.

A member of this forum sent me a hey ho. I'd forgotten about all the strange and stranger people on this forum. You are all still strange but it's lovely.
