Ando a CAT scan in 07 showed a tiny amount of fluid on the top of my dome and it can effect act like a peusdo tumor they said.

I am reading Lord of the Rings to my visually challenged friend. (posted about this earlier in the reading thread)

What follows will have basic spoilers for Lord of the Rings.




So my friend has been rather depressed ever since Moria and the fall of Gandalf. Several times he has shaken his head sadly and said "they don't have a chance without Gandalf". Me being a good non spoilery reader, always nodded solemnly and agreed that things looked dark.

Yesterday we read the chapter the white rider where Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli meet Gandalf in Fangorn. When Aragorn exclaimed Gandalf the expression on my friends face was priceless.

Reading to him reminds me that the old tropes we jaded fantasy readers take for granted still have the power to bring joy and wonder to new readers.

So at the very least I'm going back to uni (IT/programming this time) in a week's time and possibly moving into an owned bigger 2-room flat with the gf (so it will actually be cheaper). So I've got that going for me, which is nice...

Docs think they've found the source of the migraines I've started having, and it's relatively easy to put right. Phew! Also, last day of work this week and very much needed. It's been an utter bitch.

I can now officially prove my allergies have not only gotten worse but there are also new ones (grass and rye pollen). That only took more than a year to prove, but hey, getting a prescription for anti-allergy shots with that info took all of five minutes!

And now you can breathe again! Pollen allergy really sucks.

Change of seasons coming up here and that means I get to choose between holdng my breath or getting sick.

My great-grandmother joined the centenarian club last Thursday looking like she's still in her eighties. She's still very healthy, although that's relative and fragile term when it comes to that age group.

My mom's been hospitalized by them occasionally for years and I've inherited them, not as bad but debilitating for days at a time.

HoosierDaddy - in my case they're almost certain they were caused by the contraceptive pill I was taking. Mine are specifically hemiplegic migraines though (the kind where you get the numbness in the left side of your face and left arm, as well as all the visual disturbance and what have you).

Basically I'm not allowed anywhere near synthetic oestrogen in the future.

Forgive the less than brilliant phone photography.... but I was lucky enough to catch one of the last flights of Avro Vulcan XH558. For the unfamiliar, she's an iconic piece of British aerospace engineering and pretty much the most popular plane in our air force history, and she's being retired from flight at the end of the year.
