Come on people, yes there are substitutes for beer....but not at any time of the day. If I do ever have bacon it's only in the morning, but beer is about the only beverage of choice for early boozing without risking being completely out of it before you even go out doing anything.

To bring up an earlier post, there is no substitute to drinking a cold beer by the pool/on the beach/on the golf course/watching football/...pretty much anything actually.

Bacon FTL, end of poll.

QUOTE (Stalker @ Jan 23 2009, 01:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."

I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.

I was talking to a buddy on the weekend about a beer mug made of bacon.

He reckons we could do it. I'm going to experiment with little bacon bowls first to get the technique down then try for something bigger.

As for watertightness, you'd only need it to be temporary really since the cool thing to do would be to chug the beer and soon after consume the bacon.

What would you think about settling for a carmelized brown-sugar coating on the inside of the bacon mug. That way you'd achieve watertightness for as long as is required to consume the beer, then you'd have a wonderfully sweet and salty hollow bacon object to eat right afterwards.

Also, for practicality we'd have to use a beer glass rather than a mug. Having a handle that wouldn't break off would be near impossible.

Bacon, it has to be Bacon! What's wrong with you people?! You can substitute any number of alcoholic beverages for Beer (and I am already thinking Vodka, cider, JD, Southern Comfort...) but there can be NO substitute for slow-grilled, just-a-touch-crispy-at-the-edge Bacon on a soft bap...Ketchup, sir? Mayhaps some HP? Cheese? Mayo......

by the way I remember that it was Abyss' invention so he gets credit for the bacon beer mug. I'm just thinking how to practically make it work.

If you make a successful beer mug I will hunt you down and give you money.

Or maybe not money... but don't dwell on that for now

I think I might legitimately have a go at this.

Anybody know if a normal beer glass will explode if heated in the oven?

Glass? As in, melted sand?

Unlikely to explode, but make sure it is glass, and has no bubbles of air in it. And don't touch it for bloody ages afterwards either

more or less what I meant...

just any kind of glass failure would be a disappointing and premature end to the awesomest project ever.

End? END??

The phrase I would go for is "temporary setback"

lol...true. I wouldn't let a broken glass stop me...but I'd be sad to wast the shard-of-glass-infested bacon bits that would be the result of such failure.

maybe a porcelain glass of some sort would be a more appropriate choice...

Normally that would be true, but the rules are a little different hereabouts. Oh and there seems to be a hell of a lot of bacon lovers that haunt the place.

Where does one go after a pair of beauts like those. Still, they're somebody's daughters...

Are you for beer or against? Or are you against prolife? I'm not sure what your angle is, please explain Dkt.

we NEED a bacon smiley!!!
forum eqity MUSt be restored!

Also, Kingston is sold out of my favourite beer. Bacon is readily available in the grocery store. As is vodka in the liquor store right next to it.
for the availability value, Bacon wins

whomever made the poll should have made it "Alcohol vs Bacon". that'd have been a landslide.

Edit: also, dkt, if I ever encountered two such idividuals as in that foto, I'd stronlgy question what kind of parties I go to..
then take 3-5 shots and get as far away from them as possible.
Drinking beer to get rid of that image would take waay too long. like 30 mins or so
shots would take 5.
