Kallor's curse on Draconus was

Quote

Draconus, what you create shall be turned upon you.

So the curse has been fulfilled now... same with K'rul (you shall fade from the world, you shall be forgotten)... and nightchill (unhuman hands shall tear your body into pieces, upon a field of battle, yet you shall know no respite)

Now, none of this is really final... K'rul was forgotten... faded... but nothing stopped him from coming back. Nightchill died.. became Silverfox... no issues. Neither tried to get back at Kallor although they were in close proximity through MoI. So they seem to have little animosity left toward Kallor. Their curse on him is (more) final, and they seem satisfied with the results.

Extending this reasoning, there is no reason to think why Draconus would take up any vendetta on Kallor now... although by all accounts he is supposed to be the meanest of the lot. And why would Kallor be any more afraid of Draccy than K'rul and Silverfox?

My point wasn't what Draconus would actually do, it was what Kallor thinks Drac would do. He was so bent on killing Silverfox it is obvious he fears something from the three. IIRC, Kallor reached for his sword when he learned K'rul was a limited manifestation and said something like "I could kill you, then."

If Kallor didn't want Dragnipur, why did he come to Darujhistan? If he was just tired of walking or looking for a place to call home, then Durav had no need to delay him. Referring to Rake as a "bastard" I interpreted as "damnit, he outsmarted me again."

Personally, I wish Durav had let him enter. Kallor, Traveller, the Seguleh 2nd, Karsa, HoL,HoS, Envy, Spite--what a fine mix that would have been. I'd pay money to read about Kallor chopped to pieces and eaten.

But it appears Kallor will wander around, in eternal insignificance.

Hmm... I think Kallor came to D'stan because he wanted to take the throne of the House of Chains and/ or become the next Tyrant of D'stan.

I don't think he had any idea what was going on in D'stan... all the stuff with Hood, Rake, ST and Cot's plan was unknown to him.

But you make a good point... he did want to kill K'rul and Silverfox... (and he went for Silverfox and WJ defended her, to his death)

Rake didn't want Kallor at the convergence, either for Kallor's own sake, or just to keep him from interfering, or because Kallor seizing Dragnipur could have been a real problem. Either way it would have been a problem.

That said, Kallor was looking to seize 'a' Throne - it was never completely clear whether he intended for the Throne of Chains or a Darujhistan Tyrant's throne we never saw. He was never seeking Dragnipur as he didn't know what Rake had planned, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't have tried to take it.

I found Kallor's comment to Spin about being the manifestation of the aspect of ruthless ambition to be interesting. He may very well be exactly that.

He stated quite clearly at one point that it was the position of King of CHains that he was seeking. It seemed like Kallor had stopped seeking mundane empires.

Yes he does but there's other points that hint at other things.

He did seem to be going down the nihilist path up until the whole thing with Spin.

Hmm, I thought Gothos said Kallor was seeking the throne. I don't remember Kallor saying that but I guess I'll go quote hunting.

I thought I read Kallor wanted to take the throne and use the power to destroy everything (like Karsa Orlong).
Am I remembering it wrong?
The leader, his audience still,
considered their scholarly will.
He lowered his head
and with anguish he said,
"But how will we teach them to kill?"

BEST I'M STILL CONFUSED ABOUT THAT BIT: How many undead dragons escaped Hood's warren? Because the undead dragon Kallor chatted with really didn't seem to be Tulas Shorn based on Shorn's subsequent chats with ST/Cots and others...

I believe that the dragon talking to Kallor is not Tulas Shorn. Tulas Shorn used to be one of the Leaders of the Edur between the moment when Mother Dark left the Andii and the events in the MT prologue(When Scanbandari is in charge).
The Dragon who is talking to Kallor claims to have fought alongside the Jaghut in their war against Death. If that war would have been around the time when the Andii and Edur came to Wu clearly more people (and eventually Kallor) would know about this war. So this is probably a different /older dragon.

You're not, and this raises an interesting and frightening possibility of a Karsa / Kallor alliance.... they're even in the same House and equally uninterested in the CG's preferences.

Wow so much happened and this forum section is chaotic, but I guess this is a good enough place to start posting... just finished today btw.

@byss-

I think this is the thread you brought up why COT and ST unleashed the hounds. And I believe it was because they wanted the choas to be going down to protect Rake from being discovered by to many people in his weakend state right after killing hood, I think the quote was something along the lines of "Little did they know, Stop the Mayham and doom the world. Unless I was mistaken the main point was to maintain as much distraction and confusion as possible,

and WOW, fucking Rake is gone, I never say that coming, and WTF Dassem!!
Could you not sense that Hood was dead already, damn you didnt see his damn body, I knew rake wanted to lose as soon as he invited Dassem to fight...

Fuck Nimander, I still dont like him. He will never be the character Rake was.

I have to admit Kallor is growing on me, dude is a gangsta

Favorite Quotes from him (Paraphrase) "What about the High King, you never ask that... and Fuck you to" also "this high king owes a Jaghut (gothos) an apology"

He has a complete character 180 turn development wise,

Clip~ Character with the most build up to end up being a bitch, gets possesed and the pawned, complete failure...

So technically Hood will be back (though not as god of death) and now Draconus is free, along with Apsalara,

oh and what is up with Paran, who was handing him his ass... he was getting fucked up it looked like. I hope we see that scene in Dust of Dreams, kind of a book cross over... would be cool,

Ill be back later

edit: oh yeah and any body else seem like the death of Orfantal was down played, seems like Korlat just let him go to his death without hesitation... and she should have known he was going to die/or when he died and no emotions or anything... I mean I guess dying on the same day as Rake is bound to make on feel insignificant, and maybe its because I was speed reading but it seemed rushed, more like SE tying up a loose end of a character...
You can't find me because I'm lost in the music

Well...Hood's situation could answer the Seerdomin question. Hood has now died twice if I am not mistaken. His body was seen on the frozen throne while he ruled the Realm of Death and was then killed by Rake and since the sword is broken, we all asssssume he is free again, correct? So Seerdomin dying once to enter the "tomb" with Itkovian and then "dying" again is no final way of saying we wont see him again, specially if Itkovian decided to interveen.
Anny Tyrant appearing in D'stan will have a rude awakening with all the people still roaming the streets.
We all noticed that Krull's bar has been...well...re-sanctified didn't we?(shame on those who blinked and missed it!!!) What with blood being spilled on a once temple, remember the MoI scene where Envy talks to Krull in small reawakened temple? And how does this affect our friendly Malazans killed there? Specially since Hood's realm was on the move at the time.
What was up with the godling's eye Apsal'ara gave Rake before she escaped and he...melted? Loophole anyone?
Whiskeyjack is leading the undead BB's on a mission along with the others. Yet...Hood is no longer ruling his realm....and they have been blessed by Ganoes. And his widdle sister is who had been promised or whatever to Hood is sleeping tight in the realm of Dreams which is probably verry closely associated to the realm of Death which is.....oh boy......I need beer, too much to ponder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will never look at white-cat-roadkill in the same way again.

I have no idea what was up with the eye Apsalara gave Rake....does anybody have any theories?
