Cate Blanchett should be some crazy witch... or a goddess.... of dreams? >.>

Kruppe - John Rhys-Davies!!!

EDIT: Oh! I just thought... if he had a whole bunch of make-up on to make him black-skinned, Orlando Bloom might be a good Nimander.

Mel Gibson??? He's not badass enough. WJ is sort of grumpy, old, and totally in charge. I don't see that in Mel. :)
Plus I think Mortensen's love scenes with Korlat would be a lot sexier than Mel's. XP
Speaking of Korlat, who would play her??? She'd have to be all black-skinned and whatnot...

And I thought Quick Ben wasn't black? and Tayschrenn was? But if that really is the case... Fishburne's not fun and crazy enough for QB. He's way too serious to be as devious and mind-blowing as QB should be, imo....

Plz no Gibson for Whiskeyjack !

Maddog, I LOVE your picks for Morgora (Dunno why I didn't think of her!), Dujek, Tayschrenn, Icarium, Coltaine, and Silverfox.

Sam Elliot looks TOO old for Whiskey... and I'm not sure if Clive Owen can pull off Duiker - they'd have to make him look a lot older. As for Kalam - isn't he supposed to be big, muscly, and black? If so, then your pick for QB might have been a better choice.

Note sure about Envy, QB, Laseen, or Karsa. They certainly have the look (Ok, seriously, is Quick REALLY black???) but I have no idea if they could pull off the acting.

Lol, I can just picture Steve looking through this thread and taking notes...

...I love this thread. :>

I love this thread too!! Yes you are right about Envy, QB, Karsa and Laseen. Quick Ben is a tough one because you would have to find some one that is pretty charismatic. Viggo would definitely be a better Whiskeyjack. And yes Kalam is black, I don't know why I thought otherwise... *brain fart*

Your picks for Spite, the Bole brothers, Daseem, Felisin, Pust and Kruppe (especially Kruppe!!!!) are awesome! I agree Cate Blanchett should be some where in there. And Johnny Depp... well it's Johnny Depp, so yah. What about Steve Buscemi??? I don't know there is just something about him that is awesome. heheh

I am going to think about this some more.

Hah, John Cleese as Hood ftw! I'd love to see him do that goose-step from Fawlty Towers.

Having watched a few episodes of "The Wire" recently as well as "Fringe", I think the perfect character to play DASSEM is LANCE REDDICK (he was Lt. Daniels in The Wire, and is Agent Broyles in Fringe). Definitely has the intensity.

Do we know for definite how dark skinned QUICK BEN is? Cos CHIWETEL EJIOFOR would be great, as he can be kick ass, deadly serious or very funny at the drop of a hat. He was "The Operative" in Serenity.

Also having watched Eureka recently, I think that JOE MORTON would make a great SHADOWTHRONE. (he plays the part of Henry the town genius fixer. I've seen him play a mad scientist before too.

so
DASSEM = LANCE REDDICK
QUICK BEN = CHIWETEL EJIOFOR
SHADOWTHRONE = JOE MORTON

I looked at Lance Reddick...he looks perfect for the job!

Dunno about Joe Morton, though.

@ AIJ

Shadowthrone is a character i have difficulty in figuring out who should play him. But I've seen enough of Joe Morton to think he could do a good job. He's not very tall, which is a good start since ST is described as small, hunched over etc. Morton often plays the part of very smart characters quite believeably too, and has decent comic timing which you need to carry off the banter between a lot of SE's characters. And I think it was in Smallville he plays a scientist that goes mad, and that's what mad me think of him for ST, since he was able to go from lucid to looney very quickly. He could do a good manic ST I think.
But since the physical descriptions are so vague with ST seeming so insubstantial at times, I guess we all could come up with wildly differing images in our heads.

The one that stands out most for me, would be to have had LANCE HENRIKSEN play FIDDLER, but he's just a bit too old i think (but that's how i visualise Fid). HENRIKSEN really does the melancholic role brilliantly.

Liam Neeson looks a tad too young and friendly...Tay is bald and old and crabby.

Brad Garret as Pormqual. Looks stupid enough.
