Nightchill/Tattersail is supposed to be "pleasantly plump" though. Tilda Swinton is very thin. I like a lot of the list. But she doesn't fit. Renee Zellwegger channeling her Bridget Jones might work.

Tattersail is fat, Nightchill isn't...I think. They're two separate people in Gotm.

And your suggestions are quite good,Ranger, except for Karsa. Dolph is way too old to play him. Karsa may be 80 years old, but that's Toblakai years. He looks like he's around 20 maybe.

Vladimir Kulich as Coltaine doesn't work for me. Coltaine is tanned with dark hair...like a mix between a Celt and Native American. But he might be good as someone else. But who?

Josh Holloway is too old to play Paran and too grizzled. Paran is a young, black-haired noble-born.

Grace Park might be a good choice for Sorry and Ian Holm would probably work quite well as Mael:)

Anyone got any good suggestions for Fiddler?

Yes, but in MoI, there's repeated assertions that Silverfox is taking after Tattersail's aspect. So I think her channeling Bridget Jones works best. Nightchill is on-screen for about 10secs of GotM. An extra could play her for all it matters. :p

I agree that Dolph is a tad too old. The Rock?

Paran's pretty grizzled by the time tBH rolls around though. It's hard to figure someone else that's right. Dyeing the hair is an easy fix. Alternately Joshua Johnson (?), aka the son in "Fringe." He plays the whole "I won't be pushed" character well in that show.

And I absolutely think Summer Glau should be Apsalar/Sorry. I can't see anyone else fitting even. I agree on Ian Holm. :p

Fiddler should be someone middle-aged (hence old for a soldier) who doesn't look it when he shaves. Sorta like Harrison Ford in The Fugitive. Now who could pull that off today? Maybe Karl Urban?

When I read, some characters I envision in my mind as movie/TV stars, others just remain faceless or generic to me.

For some reason when I first read DG, I always pictured Coltaine as Vladimir Kulich, not sure why. I always pictured Sorry/Apsalar as Summer Glau as well, until I noticed her description in BH as asian-like, and I've been trying to see her as Grace Park. I always pictured Paran as Josh Holloway since GoTM and it just stuck.

Yeah, I guess 80s Dolph would work well for Karsa, that's who I actually picture him as. The Rock would be a great choice though.

How about an older, grizzled-looking Christian Bale as Fiddler? As long as he doesn't kill everyone on set...

Christian Bale as a redhead? I dunno... I'd rather have him as Paran I think. He's much better suited than Sawyer anyway. Paran is, what, in his early twenties?

I've been thinking about Sorry/Apsalar as Faith from Mirror's Edge :p But I agree that Summer Glau would fit perfectly...she is slightly Asian looking, right? :p

The Rock is still a tad too old, and I can't take him seriously anymore after having seen Southland Tales... We need someone younger, but with the same build.

Bridget Jones as Tattersail is not a bad idea actually...but how about Charlize Theron? She could put on the weight, like she did in Monster.

If you just want someone huge, and younger to play the part of Karsa, you could always get the guy that played Collosus in X-Men. Can't really say whether he can act though.

Daniel Day Lewis would be a BRILLIANT Shadowthrone, methinks. The guy really can act. And I always imagined Paran as James McAvoy. He can do that pussy to macho thing (Wanted) and plays a powerful mover in Sci-Fi nicely (Children of Dune)
And what about:

Ewan McGregor- Sargeant Balm
Nigel Terry (Arthur from Excalibur) - Dujek

I love Tilda Swinton as Nightchill, and Hillary Swank as Picker. What about Anne Hathaway as Lady Envy?
And one by one the gardens died

For Tattersail, you don't want someone who looks good thin to put on weight. You want someone who is stunning while she is already heavy, someone who naturally carries weight well.

I think Angelina Jolie was made to play Envy.

Hows about Damian Lewis as Fiddler ?

He's a ginge, about the right age and he's got all that combat leader/ shoulder to cry on/ protective of his troops, type thing going on from Band of Brothers. He is also an excellent actor.

Also another wildcard as Apsalar, Maggie Q. I know she's a bit older but she looks good and she's got the moves.
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.
Just look at em' now, already pullin' the plow. So quick to take to grain, like some old mule.

I agree, but where can we find someone like that?

Okay, Angelina Jolie for Envy and Anne Hathaway for Spite?

Damian Lewis is a great actor, i loved him in Band of Brothers.
I just don't know if he portrays a tough enough character to play Fid.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Maggie Q is an absolute go as Apsalar..go..Green light...winner winner chicken dinner.

I still like Viggo as Fiddler best I think. Barring the red hair thing.
