If they ever make a Malazan film, Kallor should be played by Samuel L Jackson.

I think someone already mentioned it, but I would love Stephen Fry's Bugg to Hugh Laurie's Tehol. Except that Hugh Laurie is too old now.
I love Steve Buscemi as Hedge! Kudos for that one!

How about Mike White as Lt. Pores? He reeks of push-aroundedness.

Alright read the whole series..there are a few whiskeyjacks on there and some people like Jeremy Irons for other characters but i think him with a beard is just the way to go.
Whiskeyjack= Jeremy Irons
QB= Djimon Hounsou
Kalam=Michael Clark Duncan
Blend= Charlize Theron
Fiddler= Ralph Fiennes
Hedge= Steve Buscemi
Spindle= Kevin Spacey (strangely enough I think Spindle and Hedge are interchangeable)
Monkrat= Paul Giamatti
Paran= Brandon Routh
Antsy= James Cosmo (braveheart, Highlander)
Picker= Hilary Swank
Apsalar= Kate Beckinsdale
That's not a bad cast at all.

I don't see Ralph Fiennes as Fiddler though... Ralph Fiennes is way too charming to be Fid. I believe Ralph would be a much better Tayschrenn or something... a very mystical character, not the 'in your face' kind of guy as Fid is.
Ah well, truth is I'd like Ralph Fiennes as whatever role he plays... he's just such an awesome actor, he can make any character big.
Why not Tom Hanks (with a whole lot of make-up) as Fid?

Daniel Day-Lewis = Whiskeyjack
Hayden Christiensen = Rhulad. He could definitely pull off the emo-ness.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I actually like those two picks. Especially if Christianson bulks up a bit like Gyllenhaal did for Prince of Persia.
Kate Beckinsale is too old to play Apsalar. Sorry is supposed to be really young in physical age, but old in spirit and I got the impression that she was taller than Beckinsale. Jessica Stroup (played the Devil's possible daughter in Reaper and was on the 90210 reboot) seems to fit. Not sure if she's got the athletic chops for the role though.
Michael Clarke Duncan is better suited to Barathol than to Kalam - who should be played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (otherwise known as MISTER EKO).

For Kallor my pick would be Billy Drago; I mean, he looks ancient, grey and evil.. Just add long hair..

And for Clip I would cast Eddie Spears..

I had some other suggestions, but have to look them up again, do not remember all of them.

I was just thinking of Ralph Fiennes in Red Dragon...your right he could totally do anything but I would love him as someone as central as Fiddler.
How about Tim Lister Jr. as Barathol and we stick to Kalam with Micheal Clark Duncan since he has better acting chops. There are just not enough huge bear like men acting. I wonder if any NFL lineman can act.
As far as Kate beckinsdale looking too old...man I see her in that adam sandler movie "click" and she is AMAZINGLY young looking.
There are a bunch of Young ones here... Jessica Stroup is fine but if not kate then how about Summer Glau as was previously suggested.

I'm telling you: Mister Eko was born on this earth to play Kalam. He's big (6'1'', 190 plus), without being huge, and he' got the intensity absolutely nailed down. Deebo (Tom Lister Jr.) and Michael Clarke Duncan are essentially the same size (6'5'', 250 plus). Barathol is supposed to be Kalam's larger cousin, with an air of gravitas and sympathy about him. I think Duncan is better at connecting to the audience on a sympathetic level than Lister Jr. and would be a better choice.
Beckinsale would be perfect for Vorcan though.

I'd just like to put these out there:
Caladan Brood: Mickey Rourke (More Sin City than The Wrestler though)
Iskaral Pust: Christopher Walken
Apsalar: That assassin girl from Serenity. Can't remember her name off the top of my head.
Kruppe: Mickey Rooney?

I'd personaly like to see Russel Crowe as Fid. We all know he can definately act and he's tough as old boots. He's not bad at swinging a sword (Gladiator), can go a bit mental (A beautiful mind) and can command (Master and Commander). Plus i'd put Fid as in RC's age bracket?
On a wild one - Danny De-vito as Kruppe

Summer Glau. I almost said that and then thought that might be type casting. Also, she's pretty but weirdly pretty. I got the sense that Apsalar is much more classically pretty.

Hmm... I see what you mean. Still, that's the only thing I've seen her in and it seemed to work well for her... Ah well. Personally I'd like to see Haydon Pannettiere get the spot, but I think that's more a personal thing
