Not really sure where to put this, it's something that was unknown to me but I recall something about author insensitivity/cultural appropriation being posted somewhere recently (if anyone remembers where let me know I'll shift)

Sure. It probably fits there better than here, though the two threads cover fairly similar subjects, it is definitely more geared specifically towards the kind of identity politics being put forward in that link, than generic "political correctness".
