I'm not bothered by the addition of further storylines, it's just that Yorick's quickly became the least interesting of them. Even the entirely new and self-contained and arguably unnecessary story about the White House staffer trying to survive is more engaging than the titular Y himself.

On the other hand, giving 355 so much more development meant that when she and Yorick found themselves on the road together, his storyline immediately became way better. The actress playing 355 is NAILING this role.

I have no idea how to watch this in the UK...

Just watched the 4th (and final of S1?) ep of this last night and for the first time saw that its based on a comic series. I had not been aware of that but it fits, seeing how a lot of the better movie/tv writing is based off comics and graphic novels these days. Agree pretty much completely with your assessment of the show. I found Yorick annoying pretty quickly, unfortunately. Was he portrayed the same way in the comics?

Thoroughly agree about the actress playing 355. She's the most interesting character on the show and the one that has me wanting more of her backstory above all others. What exactly was she and her unit(s) doing for the president prior? And the daydream forest dance vision/memory? More, please.

Yah the release was weird, Disney+ in placed, FX in others, Hulu in others. We got it on FX here which means we have maybe 2 weeks to watch before it vanishes.

S1 is 8 eps.
TV Yorick is very VERY different from the comics. In the comics he's overall more competent and confident, less whiny. Even the monkey is better. The situations he found himself in early in the floppies showed he could survive, as opposed to TV Yorick who whatever the hell was going on in the flooded tunnel and dry cleaner.
...which is not to say i have a huge problem w TV Yorick because he has a lot of room to grow into the way better character i expect Vaughn and Guerrera are aiming for. It's just that they are starting from a very low place for a charater whois supposed to be the protagonist. I don't mind 355 carrying him for a while, she's awesome.

Ah ok. Yeah for TV it does actually make sense to give Yorick a lot of room to grow/improve. I suppose there would have been less "conflict" or butting of heads with 355 if he wasn't the way they've made him so far. I may wait till the rest of the season has dropped before continuing.

The budget is clearly awesome and it’s a s huge spectacle however after only two episodes ( one of which already ended on a cliffhanger) we already need the second foundation to clear up some serious deviations. Though of course I think that’s to be expected. I’d think the book needs some adaption to make it work on screen.

I signed up for Apple TV on Friday to watch this, and have not gotten a chance yet to see the first two eps, but my best friend solidly loves it and he's a fan of the books.

Watched the HBO documentary series Small Town News: KPVM Pahrump (6 episodes). It's as the title suggests, about a small town news outfit trying to expand into Las Vegas. I guess the appeal is the eccentric employees and members of the the little desert town of Pahrump, NV. There are some goofy people living in the desert out there on the Nevada/California border.

This is how one of the segments closed:

"In more local news, at Wednesday's Veterans Day celebration, News 25 had the honor of meeting Janet Porn. Janet is a veteran of the Vietnam war."

That poster of Dream doesn't quite do it for me I think his hair is too silky and professionally cropped... Didn't expect Death to be black so in that sense she doesn't fit with the source material but I don't care in the slightest. Otherwise the posters do convey the tone very well...
