Enjoyed KILLING EVE s1 and 2... not loved but it held my interest and the two leads were a treat to watch.

I ran through Los Espookys on HBO, only six episodes, and I want more! Occasionally cheesy but always charming, and many lols. Plus as I get older, I'm thinking more and more of going goth, so these kids really spoke to me.

Finished Veronica Mars season 4. Fantastic, emotionally resonant & satisfying season. I still love the way these complex, sometimes-jagged-edged characters rub against each other, for better and worse, and I think the continuation of Weevil & Veronica's very complicated, uneasy relationship here was, as always, a highlight. Really one of my very favorite dynamics in any show.

My wife and I finished up Person of Interest. We tried watching Black Mirror, but the 2nd episode was a bit too much for her tastes. I think that's going to be something I watch without her.

We settled on Jack Ryan on Prime. It's really good.

What a season, easily the best season thus far. What a story and what a roller-coaster.

Bunny Colvin, the only cop who gave a dam about doing something meaningful get's completely screwed over by the system as a whole. Everyone wanting to either cover their asses or getting one up in the political game. Fucking carcetti with his grand speech which talks about not using this as an opportunity to spin this for politics. meanwhile he sprang the whole thing as a lead-up to his run for mayor.

Stringer bell, honestly, felt satisfying to have clay davis completely pull the wool over his head. But the shock was the growing divide between Stringer and Avon leading to them killing each other. (not that it wasn't foreshadowed like in the club scene) With brother Mouzone and Omar no less. Was quite the scene. Was happy to see him fall finally.

But at the end, you aren't left any happier overall. yes he fell but now Marlo stanfield come and he's a cold motherfucker. Get rid of one kingpin another one will rise because you're never getting at the root issues. The reason you never get at the real issues is the system lives off the root causes. Without systemic reform, the cycle repeats ad nauseum. It's quite soul crushing.

Someone tries to get something done, and at the end, now it's even worse. You just end up feeling hopeless about the whole thing.

Within this season in specific, the topic of "good police" and "good police work" came up a lot. I really liked the conversation between Carver and Bunny about the distinction about Soldering and Policing. Soldering is about making arrest, busting corners and getting numbers. Policing is about walking your beat and knowing the community. Being in the community. I find that this issue is still alive and well in toronto vis a vis Toronto police and it's relationship with the LGBTQ2A community (or whatever the current acronym is), though nowhere as extreme. Though its sickening to have the higher ups in the show talk about "good policing" when all they care about is their jobs and they do nothing but berate their subordinates, themselves having no solutions either.

Finally, as a whole, as much as im a dyed in the wool Weaboo, No anime has ever grabbed me in the same way. As cool as anime can be, it isnt as visceral as this. It's "real stories" about real issues in a way that anime will never do. As much as I love anime, The Wire stands above it like a colossus, its honestly the best TV i've ever watched.

The wire is the best tv show ever made. It is so exceptionally good, and even it's worst season (s5) is head and shoulders above the best of most other shows.

Any of you watch The Toys That Made Us docuseries on Netflix? I accidentally watched Season 2 first due to the idiotic way Netflix organizes their episodes, but I don't think it matters for this one. Anyway, it's very breezy/charming, more engaging than you'd think for a talking heads doc about businesses' behind-the-scenes decisions.

I am incredibly cautious about any enthusiasm for this. For starters season 1 of Titans completely ruined Ravens character (my fav Titan). I also could not care less about any scenes involving Hawke and dove

not only that but the fact season 1 culminates with Trigon taking over the world and this new trailer doesn't even mention him, I'm worried this is going the route of trying to cram in villains and heroes to fill up time

Raven... I don't think much of her comic character would have translated well to TV. I think they did a solid job of creating something that worked. Same for Starfire. If you're a source material purist I can see why you sont like.

Hawk n Dove... yeah, not the strongest part of the series.

I thought she had a nice prologue-style arc to her characters origin.

Okay, this is/was a production decision and while I don't agree with it, it is this way for not story reasons but for behind the scenes ones (I can only assume they liked the cliffhanger?). You will have noticed that Season 1 only had 11 episodes, which is an odd number of episodes for a season...well it turns out that the denouement of the storyline you are talking about was going to be in the 12th ep, but they delayed it and shoved it into S2 as the first episode. Again, I assume this is because they liked the idea of the cliffhanger rather than resolve the S1 arc...I think it's an asinine idea and I'm bothered by it. But yes, this means that S1 will wrap up with S2 Episode 1, and the rest of S2 will be a brand new arc (I assume featuring Connor and Krypto; as well as Aqualad and more Donna Troy/Wonder Girl), which is why you don't see much Trigon in the S2 trailer.

... was sufficiently epic that rather than dilute that, they cliffhang and leave the hopefully bigger scene for the S2 premiere.

Also, money. if they cut the finale and used the remainder for the premiere they would have more dollars to spend on S2.
