Finished Hell on Wheels. What an incredible rewatch that was. That final Ep was fucking perfect. Stellar casting and performances all around. Brutally dark and yet tenderly light story telling.

I've thrown this on my To Watch list on Netflix now. I'll let you know how I like it when I get to it. I love Anson Mount in Disco, so I'm looking fwd to this.

It certainly looks good, and it's on a bunch of "best shows you're not watching" lists, so I'm into that.

This trailer came out last month, but I came aware of this when looking over SDCC updates today. It's got the Bojack Horseman folks backing it, so I'm guessing it's probably going to be good (and weird).

I saw that once in a David Attenborough documentary.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Wait, wut? There's going to be a Snowpiercer television show? I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, but am unsure about this. TBS doesn't have a great track record (does it even have one?) when it comes to original programming. I'll keep my eye on this and see how it is received.

ROMAN EMPIRE. It's funny, but after the first season (the Commodus one; which I loved!) I got busy doing and watching other stuff, so I've only now gotten back in and the Julius Caesar season is kicking my ass with excellence. There is just something about the Starz-level dramatizations mixed with the talking head Doc stuff and Sean Bean's phenomenal narration that just hooks me!
And now I see that there is a 3rd season for Caligula! Woot!
Oh, and I think I heard S4 is happening and will be about Augustus.
I'd love to see a 5th season based around Paulinus Gaius Maximus to be honest. A late Rome frontier season would be great!

Do you remember me saying the production seemed to be ramped up on S2 over S1? It was on another lvl imo!
It very much seems to be the case, you're right. Have you watched the Caligula season yet?

Yep. It has its moments but it’s by far the worst imo. Just kinda boring. Only 4 eps.
Cool. Still going to watch. Caligula was juts a nutter...so most of his story spins out of being insane.
I think an Augustus season should be off the hook.

Finished S2 of ROMAN EMPIRE. REALLY well done throughout. Liked the casting of everyone, including Julius Caesar...but if I'm honest the statues and busts of the actual man all look like Colm Feore more than anyone else to me. LOL.
They skipped a few things, and some of the actual dramatizations took some poetic license (this is to be expected though), but overall just really enjoyable! And I think my fave bit was when Mike Duncan basically said that Caesar knew people wanted him dead, but he didn't think anyone had the balls to do it. And the music in the last episode was REALLY great!
Also, I had no idea the luscious Aussie Jessica Green was Cleopatra in this! What a bonus!
Started S3 (Caligula) already, but only 5 minutes in so no consensus yet.
Also, BK, did you know that one of the talking heads in the documentary portions (Mike Duncan) has a COMPLETE history of Rome podcast? I've started listening and it's really great!

Nearly finished S3 of ROMAN EMPIRE (have about 15min to go on the last episode), and BK you are 100% right. The best season is the Julius Caesar one, the Commodus one second, and the Caligula one 3rd. Not a distant 3rd mind you, I'm still enjoying it...but without the charisma of the previous two figures they focused on, it's hard to watch Caligula with anything but a kind of retrospective "he was nutters"....there is barely any military might to speak of, unless you count him planning to invade Britain and then not doing it. Funnily enough, the dude who plays Caligula only kind of half-sells it, and ends up (to me anyways) being outshone dramatically by Teressa Liane (who plays Agrippina). Anyways, still fairly decent.
I honestly wonder who they will do for S4 now...it's expected that Netflix will renew it.
Coincidentally, all the seasons of SPARTACUS have juts shown up on CDN Netflix, and I've only seen like half of S1, so I'm going to dive into that next.
Also note BK that it's WILDLY historically inaccurate with apparently S2 being the worst offender. It's still quite enjoyable to me, but it's nice to be able to see it as a VERY fictionalized tale and not buy it as a proper documentary.

Also it seems someone clearly has read Colleen’s Masters of Rome books. That dude was instance to instance.
Which likely makes it spot on cause that woman knew her shit.

I still need to get past book 1. I think my stumbling block o that was that opening section, I was confused and though I was reading about Caesar....but the Julius they are referring to is his dad? Man, I never realized that and I was so confused.

I started watching the CW's THE OUTPOST randomly...it's bad. The CGI is bad. The green screens are bad. The acting is about 50% bad or OTT. The budget is like a shoestrings shoestring. It's entirely bloodless, but the fight choreography is weak to boot so even the fight scenes feel terribly done.
But inexplicably (and I highly doubt it's just because Jessica Green is a smokeshow) I'm enjoying it? I can't even remotely explain it. I have nothing but bad things to say about it....but I'm still enjoying it.
I feel weird and dirty.

It's funny that i knew this just from reading the episode blurbs on io9.
It took about 90 seconds of a random episode to confirm and i never looked back.

Stop. Just stop. You don't have to do this to yourself. You have Netflix. There are options on hand. It's not too late.
