Finished up the 5th (and final) season of Broad City. It wasn't quite the gut punch I was expecting when Ilana and Abbi when their separate ways, but still, I had to do some dabbing with a Kleenex for sure. Abbi buying concert tickets to Lil Wayne (and molly/ecstasy/mdma) off Craigslist sure made for some wacky hijinks in that final episode. And that penultimate episode prior, I sort of knew that was the deal with Bevers. Which was quite a long play (and callback) because I don't recall Bevers appearing much in the show after season 1. Anyway, once the dust has settled and the 'experts' give us their postmortem analysis about Broad City, I can definitely see them describing it as one of the defining comedies of this era and a comedy that pushed on the walls of the defining box that most perceive what a 1/2 comedy should be.

Our mandate with the PTEN network was that every year, we had to show a profit for the network.
And every year, we showed a profit (even though on paper we’re still in the red as far as profit definition
is concerned, which is why, to this day, I’ve never made a dime of profit on Babylon 5. We’re still
allegedly 30 million dollars in the red).

The Roku channel has The Colour of Magic. I'v watched the first 2 episodes. It's a little stiff. I don't think they are capturing the over the top, yet tongue-in-cheek, descriptions Pratchett uses in his writing.

Binged all 6 episodes of Ricky Gervais latest show AFTER LIFE, and it was really excellent, really down to earth, and really genuinely funny and charming. WELL worth your time (on netflix).

I haven't watched the Simpsons in, like, forever (well, I guess I try and catch the Treehouse of Horrors episode every Halloween). Anyway, this is kind of neat. I guess the closing credits of the most recent episode included Okilly Dokilly, the world's only 'Nedal' band (a Ned Flanders themed metal band). I guess that's what the kid's would describe as 'meta'.

So prior to GoT season premier tonight, HBO aired a trailer for season 2 of Big Little Lies (S2 begins this June). They've added Meryl Streep to the cast. Wow, that's bringing out the big guns as it relates to adding talent to the show. I'll definitely be checking it out. Oh, btw, if you haven't watched season 1, you should, it's excellent.

Over half a million in winnings. Betting $40k on Final Jeopardy... its a lot of fun watching him play.

He still has quite a few wins to go to get close to Ken Jennings' 74 total. I have my doubts he'll get close to those number of wins (we'll see), but holy shit he is raking in the dough! He has a technique I haven't seen employed much. He will jump from category to category, never staying in one to run it to completion. I think this is smart, as it keeps the other contestants off balance.

Arthur Chu made this technique widely known, although it was done before him. He talked about it quite a bit and now more people do it - although it's not a universal technique due to some people not having full command of each category up on the board.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Yes, for sure. Also, I think this technique is employed by Holzhauer to, in effect, 'hunt' for the daily double. A big part of the ridiculous size of his earnings is that he has been uncanny in locating the daily doubles and then either betting everything or a large portion of his earnings.

SWAMP THING shut down production (the orders came on high from Warner Brothers, according to a now-deleted insta post by one of the actors on the show)...and it SOUNDS like this is part of a possible shuttering of the DC Universe streaming service?
Man, I love TITANS so I hope that's not the case, but it doesn't look good.

Y'all should never trust Warner Bros. again after what they did to FilmStruck. They would strip all the good in this world if it meant an extra nickel for their execs and shareholders.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Yah probably, but this is the one with the DC properties and it's currently self-cannibalizing at an insane rate, so I wouldn't hold out hope for the DC streaming service. Maybe some things will survive to the WB macro streaming service but who knows what.
