Just watched the Christmas Special re-launch of ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. Yup, it's like Patsy and Edina never left. Hilarious!

Sherlock is back! And it's awesome. We know what Moffatt's been concentrating his time on...
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

After skipping about five eps, i saw the season finale of TERRA NOVA.
In some respects, this was the best ep of the season. It had action, it had interesting character turns. It had Jim Shannon go commando on 2149 packin a frikkin dinosaur. But it suffered in other ways... a few major developments were handwaved or entirely offscreen (not surprisingly, these involved dinosaurs). Some of the developments had plot holes the size of a carnosaur. And a few characters were really just irritating if not outright dumbass. Shannon unleashing a t-rex (or something) on the future made up for a lot of the shortcomings tho'... which proves my point that every episode needs to include crazy shit involving dinosaurs or else the series will fail.
This highlighted the potential and problems with this show. I have zero desire to go back and watch the eps i missed (and had no problem understanding the finale anyways). if it gets picked up again, i'll glance at the S2 first ep, altho this seems unlikely.

Started watching BREAKING BAD (Season 1, eps 1-7) and was SO underwhelmed by it! My friends all think it's totally amazing and addictive...and I can't for the life of me sort out why. It's weird, and seems to revolve around characters I couldn't' give a shit about. The cinematography seems to be trying to ape famous directors who like silent sweeping shots....but it totally fails on a TV show. This is essentially 43 minutes of TV, not a 2+ hr movie, so the slow deliberate tracking shots and no dialogue/quiet scenes simply bore the fuck out of me. A TV show needs to DO something in those 43 minutes. It can't a be a slow burn every episode. I also had to sit there and listen to inane conversations about shit that just doesn't interest me at all. I get what the show is meant to be about, but I feel that it seems to succeed based simply on how visceral and crazy the plot line is. Bringing people back every week just to see what messed up thing will happen next. Fail. Me no watchy any more.
REVENGE has been in reruns for a few weeks leading me to believe that like every other show these days it went on mid-season hiatus...with a really lackluster non-cliffhanger episode which weirds me out since they could have done so much more. If you are going to fuck your viewers over by splitting the season up, then at least give them some reason to come back. My gf will still watch, but unless the episode when it comes back blows me away I'll stop watching.
I'm an angry fellow this week. LOL

Fixed.
Saw the first new episode tonight. I like the direction they're going with
Spoiler
and I also liked how they involved all the secondary characters quite well in one episode, though that won't be as necessary for the next episode.

And again.
What is it about this show that inspires such fierce following?
The last set of people i told i wasn't watching it almost strapped me to a chair and stapled an ipad to my face to make me watch it...

Indeed, I truly don't get it.

Yeah, I'm actually having issues with the main subject matter, so even if the writing blows me away, I still can't get on board to watch a show about that.
Kind of like how I can't get into DEXTER like everyone else can.
I'm a Batman fan. Batman would not be down with what Dexter does.

Cant find the Sons of Anarchy season 3 we had lying round the house so ive stopped watching it. Watched Band of Brothers again as I recently got it on DVD. Its so good an well acted and everything (didnt notice Michael Fassbender was in it the first time I watched it) and as always the last line 'served in a company of heroes' had me again...
Need a new series and have heard good things about Breaking Bad but a few on here dont seem keen. Hmmm...

The latest season of Breaking Bad was phenomenal. The last episode of the season is some of the best TV ever. Give Breaking Bad a chance, I think you will get bit by the bug.

I just watched the first two seasons of Aventure Time and it is so good.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

HBO is airing all three documentaries that chronicle the story of the West Memphis 3. This is highly recommended. I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say that science (forensic science) wins in the end!
Official name of documentaries:
* Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills
* Paradise Lost 2: Revelations
* Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory
