I enjoyed it tbh. I'm going to keep going. I was expecting "Futurama but a fantasy version" but it's not quite as good as that. Made me laugh enough that I want to watch more.

I didn't get one laugh out of it. The first episode being (to me) as weak as it was, I've no intention of continuing.

Fair enough it's not going to work for everyone. 🙂

To be fair to it I was doing other things with it on in the background after the first few minutes. With people saying it improves as it goes I might give it another crack tonight and see if my opinion differs.

I chuckled a few times in the first ep, but I agree with your first take...though I have heard the notion that as it goes on it better finds its footing and learns what it wants to be and is better as a result, so I'm going to keep plugging along and see if I don't like it better later on.

The most impressive thing for me is the backgrounds. They are GORGEOUS. It's painting-like, like a Joe Wright movie but animated.

I could understand if you'd watched a few...but after one episode you would have given up stuff like BUFFY, and FRINGE as well then...sometimes shows really do need time to find their feet and get into a niche in the writers room.

No clue what's going on.. I got the old man's tv and Dvr up and running on tv. The HDMI isn't working. I can't get my tv to do shit. My PS4 won't even show on screen in another HDMI slot from Dvr one. This is weird.

Now got my tv on TV. The little boxes in old man's and kids are fine and on HDMI. The one in my room blew out. Only 2 TVs were on and both won't show pic on HDMI.. could it have really zapped the HDMI circuit in both TVs?

Ok even weirder...my PS3 is up and running on HDMI 3. No signal on H1(tv) or H2(PS4) ugh and PS4 still won't come onscreen even if I put it on H3 which just had PS3 showing. Wtf??!! I'm now panicking as my PS4 was in restmode when the strike happened. Omg that will piss me off

I had a tv lose all 3 HDMI inputs, one at a time, in the course of a year. Ended up having to replace it. It can happen. Florida, the lightning capital of the world, apparently.

Ep1 of Disenchantment wasn't too impressive. I'm going to give it a few episodes to see if it improves. I hope it does, I want to like it.

I watched up to episode 6 last night and it DEFINITELY got better as it went. The jokes are very much in the vein of FUTURAMA instead of THE SIMPSONS, which is a good thing, and by episode 4 or 5 I was laughing and enjoying. I mean the voice cast is all Futurama alum to the point where you can be like Oh, Bender is the king, Kif is the castellan, Fry is the wizard...but otherwise it's very much its own thing...and it SEEMS to be telling a continuous serialized story which makes it different than either of Groening's previous efforts.

And Matt Berry (Reynholm from THE IT CROWD, and Toast from TOAST OF LONDON plays a foppish prince for a few eps and is always funny!)

So while I'm not done S1 yet, I'm definitely enjoying it more now than I was at episode 1 or 2.

YMMV.

I'm with you QT. I don't think it's going to replace Futurama our break any genres but it's giving me a good laugh each episode and I like the easy the three main characters work together.

I've only watched a few but I'm glad to hear there continues to be an element of serial to it. That's what I was hoping.

to be fair, first couple eps of Futurama weren't THAT great. and it took a while for some of the characters to be developed.

Most obviously Bender, who initially is merely a suicidal robot, who eventually becomes the sarcastic SOB that apparently hates everyone we all love.
meh. Link was dead :(

Good to know - and Matt Berry is pretty much always a win.

It's on my radar to give it another try over the bank holiday.

Yeah Matt Berry is great in it - he basically plays Matt Berry haha.

Incidentally, GARTH MARENGHI'S DARKPLACE is one of the funniest and most underrated shows I can think of. Only 1 season of about 6 episodes but it's brilliant. Richard Ayoade, Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding are all in it too.

You had me at Richard Ayoade, but Noel Fielding is the cream on the top! Will check it out.

If you haven't watched the Goldbergs, I suggest that one. Much fun 80s nostalgia in that one too.

Seconded. This last season was weak, but the first few are great. Especially if you grew up in the 80’s. It’s also kind of like a Malazan in that The Timeline Is Not Important.

Agree about the last season. I think the real Adam Goldberg has run out of old VHS home videos to base the episodes on. But yeah, pick up with season 1. It's excellent.

So excited. Weevil showed up in an episode of iZombie this last season and I felt a distinct warm glow. Also I think a briefer season would be great for the long arc. I like S3 plenty but it was a bit shaggier than the first two w/ that bigger mystery.
