It depends on the episode these days. The girls coming on board full time moved it out of the stagnation it had begun to suffer form the same predictable storylines.

Things that are status quo by Season 7:

1. Penny and Leonard are engaged, and it sounds like she's giving up acting and has found something she's much better at.

2. Howard and Bernadette are married, and living together. (there was actually a REALLY poignant ep where Sheldon finds a letter in Howard's closet from his long-disappeared father, and it's got a great ending)

3. Raj is finally dating people, the wrong people, but at least he's not doing the "I'm so lonely" thing anymore as that was getting annoying.

4. Sheldon and Wil Wheaton are now friends, so when he shows up it's not as an antagonist...which is good because that was a tired storyline.

5. Sheldon and Amy Farrah-Fowler have VERY, VERY slowly moved forward in their relationship and in increments Amy has pulled Sheldon out of his shell enough to actually be okay with being in a relationship, and in last season's finale he kissed her.

6. Sheldon has given up on Physics as a job, and is trying to find something else at the university to do with his genius.

So basically after the girls come on board full time (S5) the show gets better but is still a hit and miss kind of situation. they will do a brilliant episode, and then a lackluster one. It would be worth going through on something like Netflix because you could skip the ones you don't like.

Some nerds take offense to it because they are essentially making fun of themselves and doing extreme nerd stereotypes...but then that's all sitcoms, so I'm not bothered.

I'm still entertained by it...but in all honesty I sometimes just throw it on in the background while I do other things.

Must say that despite some skepticism, I liked seasons 7-9. Granted, it's hard to think of something interesting happening after what goes down in season 6, but I think they pulled it off. It's a bit downhill from S6, but not terribly so. And after the s10 hook, I can't wait for the new season.


I recently re-watched Seasons 1 - 6 and it's awesome. I'm a big fan (and not just because Dean is smoking hot, honest). Anything with a Trickster in specifically is great stuff and I love Sam's traditional line of "Think about it Dean; every culture in the world has it's own lore about X/Y/Z" to justify absolutely anything. I think Abyss would like it if he gave it a go. It's all tongue in cheek stuff with enough cheese to keep the fan girls interested but enough digs at themselves to make it entertaining. The first series is basically "Which classic movie shall we rip off this week?" (Jaws, Candyman, the works) and the story arc slowly beds in. It is like "X-Files Teens" which doesn't instantly sell itself but if you get on board with the angst it is worth it eventually. In later series once the story arc is firmly bedded in they start to laugh at themselves more and it gets much better. It is still quite formulaic and I wouldn't say they do anything original - for example there is an episode filmed in the first person with handheld cameras. I am puzzled as to whether they lack imagination or are paying homage to popular film and tv. The makers are either a little bit dumb or quite clever. The fact that I can't figure out which is appealing.

I have seen series 7 and bits of 8 and 9. They really should have ended it at 6 as it was a very satisfying ending (I cried Posted Image). Saying that, I have enjoyed the rest but the vibe has gone.


I was absolutely esctatic about the episode where Sam and Dean get thrown into an alternate dimension where they're Padalecki and Ackles playing themselves. The attempted stage takes are utterly hillarious ;)

Ditto. It'll probably me neat for a few episodes, then the repetitive "crime of the week" will outweigh the nostalgia.

The first. That makes sense, but i still couldnt do it.

I know its still on because my wife has to watch that godawfulness every week.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

It was decentish in S1 & 2 when it was trying to do something new in the genre...but it's pretty heavily soapy these days at like what ten seasons in?

But yes, I don't exactly watch it voluntarily.

Exactly. I made it through a few seasons watching it with her, then around season 3 sometime it became unbearable for me.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Well, it's still the number 1 show. As long as the actors stick around it shouldn't end anytime soon.

There was a big brouhaha because the network signed them on for an unprecendented 3 further seasons at once (usually you only get signed for one at a time gaging how the last seaosn went)...but then the 3 main stars asked for more money...which because of the network pickup for 3 seasons, they had to do. So three more seasons at least including this one.

But yeah, no end in sight.

Finally started Battlestar Galactica today! Seen the first half of the miniseries that is the prequel, so far it is pretty impressive. Looking forward to carrying on with it!

2nd part of the "prequel" miniseries of BSG. Yep, we're hooked! Great concept about earth being the 13th colony (or is it??) and the possibility of sleeper cylon agents. Looking forward to delving into it!

I notice on Netflix the S4E1 is "Razor Parts 1 & 2" then it goes to S4E4 or something. Is this the case?

Edit: the last episode is "Daybreak part III" I thought there was a 5th season?

Edit 2: nevermind, quick wiki search reveals there to be something called "The Plan" but not a 5th season. The Plan is not on Netflix will I need to see it?

You don't need to see The Plan, but it's an entertaining recap of various events from another POV.

Yeah probably will do seen as I like knowing the full story but good to know if The Plan isn't on British Netflix it isn't fully imperative that we watch it immediately. Thanks all!

Ive had Boardwalk Empire Season 3 since xmas and have only just got round to watching it. Very good and preferred it over S2. I love the masked sniper guy and although I like Michael Shannon he was alot more bad ass in the earlier seasons. Hes a bit weak in this one though ive just started s4 and have watched a couple of them today. Enjoyable with solid acting throughout.

Indeed. I won't get to watch it till tomorrow when the wife is at the gym (she doesn't watch), but I'm very much looking fwd to it!

Really, really enjoying OUTLANDER! If this show continues along this patth, I will be picking up Gabaldon book series.

House of Cards is ridiculous, yet superbly acted.

The weakest link in the whole cast is Kevin Spacey and that's mostly because the scripts tell him to mug for the audience.

This may be the best casting of any show I have ever seen. Just unbelievable how they get superb performances for each role, major or minor.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

This is the second time that I've been very surprised by a show based on a book series by an author who was classicly considered "romance" was actually really entertaining (the first being Phillipa Gregory's THE WHITE QUEEN).

I watched the first episode of Outlander and it was alright, and I was interested in watching more, but then I read about some of the more morally squiffy sexual stuff that's in the books, and it put me right off.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.
