Did anyone watch the 4/19 episode in the future? Awesomeness. Confused on how it applies to the story, though. Is it meant to show the future in the way they're currently going, and they need to make a change?

Yes and it was BRILLIANT.
John Noble may be the best actor ever and I could watch him play Badass Walter for an entire season. The bit at the end with the hand... HOLY. FUCKING. Fuck.

I think it was a one off future episode, but I loved loved loved the suggestion that Walter made the probes in the future and sent them back in time against the Observers which is why we see them in earlier eps. That was pure sf tv genius there.

THANK GOD. I would have hate to lose it after this season. I lost interest in the beginning, but its definitely back.

Speaking of John Noble, the dude is great, but did he live a rough life or something? He looks about 80, but he's only 63 or something? Younger than my grandfather

You want to be REALLY weirded out? Go and watch him as Denethor (Boromir and Faramir's Father), steward of Gondor in LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS...he looks SO YOUNG!

Makeup and sheer mad fucking talent.

He's portrayed like five different Walters in this series (original Blueniverse crazy Walter, Blueniverse/Redniverse early years Daddy Walter, Redniverse Walternate, Yellowverse REALLY crazy Walter and Blueniverse/Yellowverse pre-lobotomy/possible future nasty Walter...) and he manages to make each version distinct yet linked to the others.

How this man has not won every acting award ever is a mystery to me.

Actually, for such an important element,I found it boring.
There were a few nice moments, notably the goodbyes at the end, but otherwise it was yawn. Liv trying to convinceNick to betray Joneswas visceral painfully dull.

Total nonevent for what was s so nicely set up a the cortexifan kids.

I have to agree with Abyss there. The most recent episode was pretty boring really after a good opening with the 'quakes. Too much like a set up episode to be honest, and despite the potential end of the world scenario, it never felt like they were in danger.

After the goodness of the previous "future world" episode and all the hints it dropped this was very anticlimactic. The fact that the series has been renewed for another (shortened) season at least gives me hope that they will build up to a suitable series finale.

Curious what the 2-part season 4 finale will do though? Did the late renewal mean they had to alter the season finale much to allow for future episodes?

I enjoyed the ep. The Walter-Walternate conversation was the best part IMO.

Looking forward to the series finale arc.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Remember way back in the first season big metal phalic bullet thingies linked to the Observers burrowed up out of the ground in one or two eps?
Then we saw them again a few weeks ago when Peter used one to rescue September.

When Simon and NotSoMysteryDaughter girl rescue Walter, Simon plays a holo of plans Walter was supposed to be working on before he was ambered. Look at the holo... it's a metal bullet shape.
Suggesting that in the future, Walter builds the things and then sends them back in time to trap Observers.

That conversation was all good, In fact the whole goodbye sequence was nicely done, except for the near complete lack of coherent plot to merit any of it.

Interesting that Belly is back, because I thought Nimoy was once-and-for-all retired.

2 points of awesomeness:

1. John Noble acting opposite his daughter
2. Muzak'd Billy Idol "Eyes without a Face"
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Looks like we won't.

That's the unsatisfactory part of this whole season for me. I guess the writers couldn't think of a way to do it, so they just dropped the whole idea.

Not certain. it seems that way but the previous future-ep has Walternate showing up after the Redniverse was destroyed, so anything is possible.

On to the FINALE...

Putting aside my mild irritation at the Yelloverse converting Billy Bell to an insane world-destroying mad scietist with a god complex - not a bad thing you understand but i liked him better and mildly insane benevolent mad scientist - the finale was pure Fringe awesome.

Nice Trek ref with Bell showing up with 'Hello old friend.'.

Seriously, two of the bestest Walter moments ever.... him shooting Olivia in the head (same spot as Walternate got her in the aforementioned future-ep, btw)... and the improved brain surgery. Fuck me but those were great.

I was a bit nonplussed with Olivia's power-up, but her deflecting the bullets into whatsernamefromLost was a cool enough moment that i got over it.

Peter was pretty whiny this ep, but deciding to use the brain reactivation thingy on deadLostgirl (how. FUCKED. were her eyes!) was nicely cold-blooded.

And i can't help it... the notion of an Observer invasion is just damn cool, esp after that future-ep from a few weeks ago.

Great finish, am right there in Sept for the last run.

That eye thing with the voice from Miss Readhead was one of the creepiest things I've ever seen on television.

MORE!

Quote

They won't start filming Season 5 until next week, but the exclusive reel played for fans did show new footage. Wyman had asked the actors to return to shoot video for the trailer, which was also used to convince FOX to give them the final 13 episodes. Wyman confirms that this season will take place entirely in the future, beginning the day after the "Letters in Transit" episode.

I'm getting a "second Season of DOLLHOUSE" Vibe from this early info...like this is going to be a game-changer of a final season!
