Still watching. But still hating where it's going. Sorry.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Yep, this is me too.

I actually kind of sigh now when I play an episode off the PVR.

This season has just been really, really weak for me after the totally balls to the wall amazing 4th season.

I don't think I'm going to see this ending on a note I like.

I utterly agree with the weak start, but the last two eps have been improving things nicely i thought.

I suppose on a base level i dislike 'fight the invaders' as the main theme to the season as opposed to the prevalent 'investigate the weird' theme in past seasons and the parallel universe subplot, but once i resigned myself to that
i was ok going along for whatever ride we're getting for the final season.

Fight the invaders just isn't working out as cool as I thought it would and feels kind of like it belongs to another show I guess.

I dunno. Hard to pin down what it is I don't like.

Yeah, I feel like the show should just end. The whole parallel universe was awesome, but right now is not even relevant to anything. That whole peter-machine thing, was that all that about cause I cant recall? They could have taken out the 2 or 3 seasons that dealt with that plot and nothing would have changed. The show is all over the place, obviously the writers just made shit up as they went and as a result the whole thing is just disjointed.

I think the problem is that the show now centers around a cliche plot about humans resisting against some alien form, which is not that exciting. I would love if Walternate just showed up with the other group members and helped out this universe as they figured out how to stop the observers but need to collaborate is some awesome cross universe scheme. That would at least make the last 3 season relevant.

Oh, I think I remember now, Peter reset the whole goddamn show so this universes never met each other? That's just a lazy solution. They could make it that this one never met with the Walternate one, but the other peeps have been working on a way to bridge em back together so they could work on their cross universe scheme!

Dunno, show needs to be more exciting and have more wtf or yeah that was totally unexpected but awesome moments.

Not quite.
At the end of S3 Peter opened a bridge between the blue and redniverses but in the process removed himself from existance and rewrote the timeline.
In S4 the two universes were in contact, then Peter came back, Liv got her original timeline memories back but no one else did.
Then they closed the bridge between the universes in what was at once one of the best and worse episodes of the show.
Then we got some weird crap about Willy Bell trying to Destroy The Universe Mwa Hah Haa.

Point being they remember the Redniverse and have even ref'd to it a couple of times this season, and yeah, i too would like to see them come back.

God, last episodes was boring. Anyone actually watching this still? They better do something awesome as a finale cause this is depressing.

The problem with this season is the complete and utter lack of any mystery...

Why dont they make the whole plane out of that black box stuff?

Well, I liked this latest ep, just on account of Walter tripping and veering between good-himself and bad-himself.

The pocket dimension was pretty cool, and the whole Peter subplot that just wrapped was fringey.

I liked the Walter elements, in fact i like the entire plotline of him trying not to become BadWalter again, but otherwise i thought it was a fairly dull ep.

That's the problem...this season should be all WIN...they know it's ending, but they are failing at delivering.

And that saddens me.

I'd love to disagree with you but while there are elements to this season that i have really enjoyed ( 'Etta, Peter's implant, Bad Walter... hell i was even fine with the Observer Invasion..., it's not nearly the balls-out-for-glory last season i was hoping for.

I'll probably go out with the 4th Season being my fave. I'll just imagine it ended there instead.

How could i miss this thread for so much time? I've been following Fringe for a couple years now and i really loved the first four seasons.
The 5th is... uh.... decent. I really really enjoy some of the new elements, especially the whole "Peter is becoming motherf*ckin Paul Atreides" thing, but the overall plot is not as compelling as in the previous seasons.

All of these episodes were filler. Even the interesting ones where Peter implants himself with that thingy. I though "finally some plot progression" and then he does absolutely nothing with it that helps them achieve their final goal. Just a waste of another 3 episodes that didn't mean squat. I really don't care about this show anymore. Just like the awful How I Met Your Mother I just want to see the ending already.

It was ok but they totally pulled a cop-out to conclude the Redniverse storyline and the Peterless timeline was just weird in a 'we're not sure what we're doing' way.

My favorites were the first 2, so much more mystery and suspance.... 3 and 4 were basically eye candy ( as you get to see the really weird stuff) but less intriguing.
I think i was a bit spoiled toward the series since that pseudo-religious thing in the theatre when William bell teaches Olivia how to travel the universe through the power of love or something like that, but i kept watching and enjoying it.

What killed the 5th imho was the simple fact that the observers recieved a HUGE hype build-up in the first 4 seasons, and then turned out to be... uh... dull.

What i do like is the use of "old" fringe case tech to get the job done.

Agreed, esp Walter's trophy room, but i wish they would do more with it. The bits where they were using old case stuff as weapons was awesome! Then it stopped.

And repeated use of variations of 'wait, that happened in another timeline!' is not helping them any.

Full-scale warfare using old Fringe cases would have been awesome!!

What do you mean? (sorry i'm terribly dense at times)

I also noticed a bit of faulty logic in the last season (more than usual)....i.e Olivia activates an amber device to amberize herself, so she should be at the centre of the bubble, but then she is found in the outer rim(also why the fuck everyone in amber is always standing perfectly erect?).
But i must admit that Markham using her as table was the best scene in the whole series.
