I'll probably go out with the 4th Season being my fave. I'll just imagine it ended there instead.

It was ok but they totally pulled a cop-out to conclude the Redniverse storyline and the Peterless timeline was just weird in a 'we're not sure what we're doing' way.

And terribly enough, with those flaws it's STILL better than S5. LOL

Full-scale warfare using old Fringe cases would have been awesome!!

And repeated use of variations of 'wait, that happened in another timeline!' is not helping them any.

What do you mean? (sorry i'm terribly dense at times)
...

It's happened a few times but most recently in the latest ep when they encounter the
Spoiler
and either Liv or Peter says 'How can that be? it happened in another timeline!'.

...especially unnecessary because most of the Fringe cases still happened in the Peterless timeline, just without Peter there.

You know I love FRINGE, right?

But...the 2036 storyline is just NOT working for me. Just totally not where I thought the show was going.

Having come this far, I'll stick with it till the end, but so disappointed right now.

Still watching. But still hating where it's going. Sorry.

I've got in the habit of not watching my favorite shows weekly; save up a bunch and then do a marathon run. I have been saving the last half of S4 and S5 to date. I am up to S5E6.

Season 4 was pretty cool. Season 5 is very disappointing. Good writing, good plotline, damn good acting. But it was just one new universe too many for me. I'll watch it out mostly because of Walter and Olivia. But it's not really Fringe for me. Feels a bit like the actors from SG1 going to the SGA universe and fighting the Wraith.

(and, yeah, I know I'm replying to older content, but not reading further in the thread to avoid spoilers.)

The latest ep was good, in terms of the moments between the characters.

Now we're just counting down to the finale. Makes me very sad.

The last of the really great television from the '00s.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

The problem with this season is the complete and utter lack of any mystery...

The pocket dimension was pretty cool, and the whole Peter subplot that just wrapped was fringey.

Well, I liked this latest ep, just on account of Walter tripping and veering between good-himself and bad-himself.

I liked the Walter elements, in fact i like the entire plotline of him trying not to become BadWalter again, but otherwise i thought it was a fairly dull ep.

I've liked the constant references to Walter being sort of stuck in the 60s/70s pop culture wise. The sudden invasion of Terry Giliam esque Monty Python animation was hysterical.

And its done. I liked how they went back to the other universe for help like I said should be done a while back, even if it was just for a short while. Finale was nothing spectacular, but at least we got an ending. We also saw an early version of the Prometheus chestburster.
No Touchy.

Yeah, I'm iffy on the finale. Good moments between characters, appropriate ending for Walter, but it just seemed like it should've gone out bigger, somehow. They seemed more concerned with nods to earlier seasons (which I appreciated, btw) than with giving it the appropriate sendoff. I preserved it for a re-watch, we'll see what I think at that point.

What a poor epitaph for what was an interesting idea.

That's the problem with all time jumping shows: the Deus Ex Machina is almost a requirement.

I'd wager that that is mostly a result of the budget slashing of which all 13 episodes suffered.

Saw the second to last and finale eps finally.

I suppose the best i can say is it was a decent ending to the series. Not great, not in keeping with the things that made the series one of my faves of the last decade or so, just good enuf.

Using the bits from Fringe cases past to strike at the Observers was a nice touch, but we had already seen that and seen it done better so it lost a lot of impact, imaginary razor butterflies aside.

Walter re-powering Liv was a nice touch, especially in how that was used against Windmark at the end.

Seeing the Redniverse again was well done. Neat how life there was actually better than in the Blueniverse now, and how the Observers had no trouble travelling there after Liv.

Massive glaring plothole not addressed in that if anyone could remove an Observer's neck-chip and power up, why didn't they just take one and re-power September. Sure, he was 'genetically experimented on' so it likely couldn't work, but even so it was handwaved a bit too easily.

Walter's sacrifice was trite but nicely handled.

Michael was actually the shining star of the finale, mindfucking Windmark right back again and telling Liv to shut up and let someone else figure out what to do.

The Jean guest apearance was pure win, but failed because they didn't use her as a living weapon against the Obs's in the last fight. :D

The last fight was nicely done, i just wish season had led to it more effectively.

The last scene with 'Etta was obvious, but at least a nice conclusion.

Overall this was only a decent last season to a great show, but i do take some solace that we got a conclusion rather than the cancellation that was repeatedly threatend. It's a bit of damning with faint praise, but there it is.

It was almost worth it just for the Walter and Astrid scene. Generally I thought it was an okay finale without being brilliant. As others have already said, I'm glad it got an ending.

John Noble as Starwars villian

Quote

Could Fringe’s John Noble really be playing the villain of Star Wars: Episode VII?
Alasdair Wilkins

Yes, Walter Bishop himself could be going up against the Jedi. The first official synopsis confirms some crucial details about The Amazing Spider-Man 2, while set photos and a detailed plot description take us inside Tom Cruise's All You Need Is Kill. Plus two awesomely prestigious actors could be costarring in Godzilla!

All that, plus Edgar Wright talks Ant-Man, the creative team behind Man of Steel explains what realism means to Superman, Jessica Alba promises a bigger role in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and a Game of Thrones episode description gives away some key details!

Spoilers from here on out!

Star Wars: Episode VII

Pretty much all of the casting rumors so far have centered on whether existing Star Wars characters like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and even Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca would return for J.J. Abrams's new entry in the franchise. However, we now have the first rumor regarding a new addition to the franchise, and it's a doozy for all you Fringe fans out there: John Noble, Walter Bishop himself, is supposedly set to play the villain, at least according to some random radio host in Melbourne who revealed she "has it on very good authority that Aussie actor John Noble will be appearing as the villain." So, admittedly, that seems like a hugely unlikely source for reliable Star Wars rumors — even if you allow for the fact that Noble is from Australia, so maybe media types down there have more of a sense of the latest Noble-related rumors — but it's the rare crazy rumor that doubles as a totally brilliant idea, so I'm all for hoping this is one bit of wild speculation that turns out to be true. Still, best to take this with a generous heaping of salt

God I hope that happens. It might actually make me go and see the next star wars.

It's a completely baseless rumor, but if it DOES happen, he will be DARTH BISHOP in my mind regardless of whatever they make him on screen.
And that lightsaber... red licorice-colored.

Luke: So how dangerous is the Darth Bishop?

Ghost of Anakin: So bad ass that he periodically eats his lightsaber. Just cause

Luke: Shhhhhhiiiitttttt. So looks like there is room on that log next to you.

Luke: I'll never join the Dark Side!

Darth Bishop: We have LSD.

Luke: ...

Leia (to Luke): Oh, you CANNOT be serious.

Luke: I think we should hear the man out.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Luke: So how dangerous is the Darth Bishop?

Ghost of Anakin: So dangerous he had Spock remove a piece of his brain so that he couldn't destroy the universe on a whim. He wants to rule a functioning universe, not ashes.

Luke: Who the fuck is Spock?

GoA: Oh, you'll meet his CGI ghost in Ep IX: The Rat Buys the Rest of your Childhood Heroes

Luke: Ummm... that's a cow.
