I've noticed a few mixed opinions about Robin Hobb, some people love her (i'm one of them) and some people think she's terrible, so I'm curious to see what the proportions are, how many people like her and how many don't... so what do you think?

Hmmmmm......I absolutely LOVE the Farseer series....but you can keep the Liveship series.

I also really dug her urban fantasy THE WIZARD OF PIGEONS written under her real name of Megan Lindholm.

Liked the Farseer books and I am a third of the way through The Tawny Man series so far. I have the Liveship books in reserve but will vote once I have compared the series.

I really liked the Liveship and the Farseer series but I did not like the Tawny man series that continued the story with the Fool.

I started Liveship, and didn't even manage to finsih the first book, I started Tawny Man in the bookshop after the experinece with Liveship and barely got through a chapter before giving up.

Really not my kind of thing;)

The first book of the Liveship series is one of the few books that I've ever started but not finished. I just didn't like it, and I've got no interest in reading other Hobb books.

really enjoyed farseer and tawny man books, liveships took a while to get into and my head around but i thought it was worth it, soldier son on the other hand not so good.

The Farseer Trilogy started off well but fell apart during the start of the second book. Too many words, not enough story.

The Liveship Traders started off really well (not getting the page 1 hate here) but disintegrated into tedium. It took me a year to read Book 3, which is pretty much unheard of for me. A shame as the ingredients were all good, it's just that the overall impact was limited.

I haven't been inspired to pick up anything else of hers since.

I like the Farseer and Tawny Man books a lot, but I found the first Soldier Son book tedious and I haven't tried Liveships.
It's her character relations in the Fitz books that I really like, the relationship between Fitz and the Fool is one of the most affecting I've read. And the ending of both series, but particularly the second, was stunning.
Both trilogies suffered their slow parts though.

I started Assassin's Apprentice a couple years back...didn't care for it; in fact I never even finished it. I haven't really considered an option Hobb since then. So I can't say I don't like any of her books, because I've only read a part of one. I guess I'm between there and ambivalent though.

I liked a lot of liveships.

i liked captain kennit. Althea was a bit shit and her druggo boyfriend had little personality, amber was awesome and i liked paragon too.

Was totally shattered by how shit the tawney man series was. No good world developments, no good character developments, it was like a few side missions (the whole piebald prince crap) and a disappointing wrap up/reunion at the end.

I'm not sure how to answer the poll. I read Liveship Traders and loved it. (And actually, my least favorite part about it was the whole dragons bit.) But I haven't read any of her other books, so none of the poll options really apply.
