No prob, let me know what you think. They're pretty entertaining, and by fair his least serious work, which generally makes them more enjoyable for a larger group of people.

Assuming to have some knowledge of literature to know who all his characters are.

The trailer has arrived.

Actually looks pretty sweet. I just hope they didn't go overboard and used too much cgi like skycaptain and mutant chronicles.

Looks pretty fucking awesome! But....2009? Fuck that. I wanna see it now, dammit. ;)

Guess I'll just have to read it again.

Er, I saw Mutant Chronicles and the place of CGI is really far down its considerable list of problems. Also, Ozy still looks a little girly to me.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

*sigh* .. watchmen might be the greatest graphic novel of all time. I'm very sceptical, but as V for Vendetta turned out so well, I am not quite as sceptical as I would've been otherwise.

And yeah, Night Owl lacks the beer gut ;)

Rorschach, The comedian and Dr. Manhattan looks great

Yeah, what the hell's with that? The guy was a middle-aged dweeb in the book. That was the point.

All the others look great, I'm just worried that by making an audience-friendly film, they will cut out everything that made the comic great. Anyone know how long the film's going to be?

Something like 3 and a half hours? The director's cut going to be around 5, I hear. Will get you a source on that when I find it again.

Saw the trailer for this in front of "The Dark Knight." Looks pretty cool. I've never read a graphic novel in my life but I'm tempted to now.

Is "The Watchmen" a good place to start? Any other recommendations for a graphic novels n00b like me?

Loveless, The Dark Tower: Gunsliger Born, Scalped (I've only read one, but it was pretty cool), Kingdom Come, Y: The Last Man.

And really most of Frank Miller's stuff. I especially liked his The Dark Knight Returns more then any of his others.

From Hell, Watchmen, Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Year One, The Long Halloween, the Sandman series. That's where I'd start. I never liked V for Vendetta.

Transmetropolitan, Planetary, Global Frequency.

Also Lucifer, once you finish Sandman. It's surprisingly good.

I find that a lot of graphic novel series mentioned here have rocky beginnings, but really take off. Like Erikson with GotM, there's rough patches and maybe things aren't expertly done, but you can see the promise there. It takes some time for people to find their voice.

The Sandman in particular has a kind of off-putting beginning, but by the end, 75 issues later, it was honestly one of the best creative works I've ever come across.

That being said, the Batman books mentioned here are stellar. The authors and artists have been working in their fields for a while and they just came right in and dropped some dank stuff with the established characters and background.

This Watchman trailer is AWESOME.

WATCHMEN is amazing. I'd also recommend PRIDE OF BAGDHAD.

Saw thw WATCHMEN trailer - odg, they may actually pull this off. The Owl and his ship were awesome, they got the Roscharsch mask right... i'm not so sure about Ozymandias but otherwise wow.

The director is the guy who did 300, so he's experienced at working off GN source material. I'm cautiously optimistic.

- Abyss, noted the trailer shows the scene of Doc M leading American forces into Viet Nam and it was picture perfect from the GN...
