Oh I definitely think that Chaos will catch up, no doubt in my mind.

I keep going back to Edgewalker....and I keep wanting to slam my head into the wall because I just...don't....understand...what...his...deal.....is.

yeah he is a mistery...

Lets see what do we know about him

Edgewalker

1.) connected to Shadow
2.) Elder/ possibly elemental
3.) Use to rule shadow (I think this is mentioned)
4.)Has had many names, so Edgewalker of course isnt what he always has been known as....

some one else add to the list, I cant think at the moment

6) Sent Curdle and Telorals (whom are/were dragons) to on some kind of mission.
The leader, his audience still,
considered their scholarly will.
He lowered his head
and with anguish he said,
"But how will we teach them to kill?"

He has a twisted right leg, that makes him drag and shuffle, implying he was once damaged in a fight.(p. 7 NoK)

Jhedel to Edgewalker:

Quote

"You know this small circle is my world now. Have you come to taunt?"
"You know I am bound just as tightly."

I don't think Edge can leave shadow.

So then where he met ST and the other guy wasn't in Hood's realm...leading me again to speculate that wasn't hood with Edge and ST.

To the people who've said the first scene must be in Shadow because of Edgewalker:
Didn't he wander about on Malaz Island in NoK? Why would it prevent him paying a visit to other realms as well? He walks on the boundaries, and apparently he can slip over to the other sides of them.

[Edit: Okay, several posts about Edgewalker were made while I was writing this post, so the above looks a little out of place...]

It may be hard to swallow, but if I remember correctly, the older woman at least realized Karsa's "greatness" and was attracted to him in some way.

She talked him up a lot, but only to try and distract him from her daughter, I think; it didn't work, obviously.

The age thing is interesting. We're talking somewhere between 13-16 years from Karsa leaving to the current time (at least ten years from leaving to reaching Sha'ik, two/two-and-a-half years with Sha'ik, one/two years since then). Hmm.

The shadow moon means a blurring of the boarders between shadow and Burns world.

That would explain his presence on the island...at least his partial presence....

Where else have we seen him until the TtH prologue? Just in shadow, right? In BH he is wih Cotillion, in the NoK prologue he is in shadow as well.

Maybe if he's with Kell he can wander a bit... and of course, it's never said he is actually bound within shadow, just implied.

I still wonder why Hood wasn't mentioned by name.....if it's so obvious it's Hood...why no naming?

Ah; I forgot about the Shadow Moon. Only read NoK once, and a while back too.
So I guess it is odd he would be somewhere else--but wherever it is, it's not Shadowthrone's realm. Everything, down to the jade rain, points to Hoods realm shortly after the end of Bonehunters. Maybe it's just a difference between where he can go on his own, and where he can be summoned to?

One of Hoods nicknames is "The Hooded one", but after reading the scene a couple of times more, I am wondering if this couldn't actually be Cotillion after all... I'm now undecided.

Then what are they doing in Hood's realm? (with dead people, if you recall...)

Perhaps it's not hoods realm... perhaps it's a pocket warren. Perhaps it's a shadow of hoods realm.

Thank you Hetan.
I waited for this even though I knew it will just reopen wounds and put salt in them (feeling otherwise known as I want this book NOW :p).
So many wonderful teasers - from meetings of powers to the real Apsalar.

It's interesting that being imprisoned inside Dragnipur doesn't stop one from being worshiped. Apsal'ara has not been forgotten or replaced.
Can she still use the power the worship grants? Is that's why she still has strength to pull the cart and still try to escape?

I wonder what will happen when Dragnipur is destroyed and how it be destroyed. Maybe the prisoners will start to escape and it will shatter it.
The great escape from Dragnipur.
The mystical sap destroying walls of reality. The fault line :p

I'm also sceptical of the stranger=dukier theory, as if he was dukier Kruppe knows who he is and henceforth he isn't a stranger, the line 'tells the story of our kind' seems to be a reference to travellers/wanderers or something sitting around a campfire, not to him being an elder god. And if kruppe is a god not a mortal ill be very surprised.

Same goes for Kallor others suggested - they both know Kallor very well and I doubt he'd have a nice welcome. I'm sure there are plenty of gray-haired, gaunt wanderers around.
And I agree about god thing.

Oh and I'm surprised more people haven't had timeline whiplash from the karsa's daughters bit, either the entire beginning of HoC and its recount of the teblor lifespan is wrong, or SE's managed to squeeze in around 80 years in by my guess around 10 years... which is impressive even for SE. That said I'm settling for happyily ignoring it for now, as it does sound like it could be cool.

It's more like 5-7 year olds and I'm not thinking about this. Not at all :p

I am undecided to...

I need some one to produce a quote on how tall Cotillion is... cuz the man with edgewalker is as tall or almost as tall... NOW!:folken: :p

The 3 people new each other, but I would have expected more familiarty if it was The Rope... maybe it is hood... though his robe was frayed... maybe it was someone else completely....but his having knowledge of the realm suggest it was hood...

the priest was suprised at the hounds... this has to be significant detail as to who he is...

to clarify because some people seemed confused on the subject... the only reason Ditch knew Draconus is because they had spoke after Ditch has been enslaved in the sword...and even then all he knew was the elder gods name it looks like... nothing else...

Its funny how Apsalra viewed her current problem as an interlude in her career..she also knew what Omtose Phalleck was and how cold it is for what its worth...

Who do you think put her in the sword... rake or Draconus... I am thinking rake... maybe she got caught wondering around Moons Spawn (which she boated about)

The timeline issues must get some explanation throughout, SE can't just bring in random new characters when there is no reason to do so e.g. wait a minute, I want to include Trull's child so I'll make him a tall, gaunt, grey man and transport him to genabackis to talk with Kruppe and K'rul.

Apsal'ara is an Imass, there is no doubt about that.

I'm not really sure if the figure is Hood, I'll give it some thought when I'm able to read the prologue again in more detail.

yeah, rather strange him appearing. Well this book should hopefully spell the unravelling of some of his various mysteries.

yup, heck in MoI Buke is described as grey-haired and gaunt.
