Anomander Rake has his own Mortal Sword and followers (whatever they're called - Black Winged Ones?). What's with this?
Can someone please explain, for I have no idea...

Basically, some of the surviving Andii on Lether either developed or brought with them a cult type worship of the son of darkness, Anomander Rake, whom they call the blackwinged lord.
Never mind the fact that Rake doesn't accept his claim to godhood, these people still worship him as a deity.
Clip, who is more than he seems, is a mortal sword of Rake. More precisely he is the mortal sword of the blackwinged lord. What he is up to is anyones guess.
There are a couple of threads on this if you do a thorough search.

Oops. Sorry.
Thanks, as well. I always thought it a bit strange that Clip was his Mortal Sword, it just seemed to come from... nowhere.
I lost my siggy... I want it back...

It's going to be an interesting storyline, especially seeing as we might see Clip and Rakes brood show up already in TtH.
My personal guess is that Clip is out to kill Rake. Which would probably lead to an awesome clash or a all kinds of sneaky underhand assassin tricks from Clip.

Also, Clip lies.
A lot.
Tho Silch never called him on it, so maybe he really is what he claims.
- Abyss, notes Clip was the first Andii with bling.

Yes, he probably has it to dazzle people, so they don't notice him attacking.

And with the next book returning to Darujistan; it places the story near Black Coral. Who knows what we'll see, Clip meeting a Seguleh or something interesting coming out of a potential encounter with Korlat maybe. The Black Coral Andii may come into conflict with the worshippers of the Blackwinged one.
Anyway, this mortal sword stuff is hard to follow. How do you have a Mortal Sword when the Deity doesn't want one. I always thought that inherent with being a Mortal Sword comes the support of the god, like Fener or Treach selecting their Mortal Swords. This topic has probably done to death in this forum though.

Yes, he's going to look up Rake after, probably, 400.000 years of silence... to ask him a question.
Clip is up to something, and it's going to be nasty. There's a reason to why he sought out Rakes children, and if you reread the last scenes on the island, you can hear that Clip is being sneaky.

Not as classic as you would like. Such staunch opposition as Dolorous Menhir, Aptorian and the mighty Dancer are present among those listed under we dislike the name "Wu". I don't know Brood's, Abyss' and IH's opinion on the matter however.

I think "trial by battle" should decide the fate of this battle. Apt Vs powermad, the first to minus reputation loses, sound fair. Is this more to your liking Apt?
I don't have a perfect alternative for the word, but the word "Wu" annoys me to some extent now.

I think the family tree of Clip is somethign we'd all like to see, after all the Onyx order Andii seem to be a little removed from tradtional Andii, and so how did Clip come to be MD's new "chosen" favourite? Certainly, he seems to have it in for Rake, but why? Is it purely Rake's turning away from MD? I'm hoping something comes out in TtH, as Im so intrigued I think I've already wet myself.

From what we gather in RG it's b/c Rake refuses to fulfill the expectations of the Bluerose and be their God.
Basically, he stands up against peer pressure. Clip is a bully who doesn't like that. And, supposedly, he's going to use the Drift Avail kids to get back at Rake, somehow.

I thought Clip was MD's Hearld now. Or is he both? He seems to like the Herald job better.

I thought he was MDs mortal sword as well some time ago. But he is sworn to the blackwing lord. The confusion lies in Clip supposedly having contact with MD and carying the first real Gate to Darkness for some time.

Abyss hit an important note when he said Clip Lies....so he could just be a big lier face and full of crap....
