Heboric didn't understand what they were.

They could be worshippers of the CG. But would they then still worship him now if he¨s been radicaled altered?

They could be enemies of the CG. Some kind of Holy Army coming to finish a war the CG was involved in.

They could just be fodder. Sent to seal the wound... allthough this would be weird because you'd think the Statue falling in BH would be empty by the time it entered Wu's plane.

Well, regardless, they seem to be chaos aspected, so it's safe to say whether they are "our" enemy or the enemy of "our" enemy, it's probably isn't good for the realm in the long run

and considering they were flying towards the otataral island that has giants apparently buried in otataral, what if they were trying to release them and heboric stopped it?

The only things we know for sure about the Jade chunks are that they were formed in a (THE??) warren of Chaos as per MOI when Rake is telling WJ about the Fall of Fener.
Also they are connected to the CG as per Heborics vision, and that there are thousands of souls in them.
Have i missed anything?

I don't think they were formed in the warren of chaos... in HoC heboric concluded they came from a diferent worlds that orbit different suns. Maybe chaos was just a pathway between those worlds (that likely have completely different sets of warrens) and Wu.
Kif: Sir, remember your course correction?
Captain Zapp: No.
Kif: Well, it's proving somewhat more suicidal than we'd initially hoped.

I like to think of chaos as the outerspace between worlds.

Did Heboric actually have to be Shield Anvil to anyone to do this? Seems to me, it was more like a personal choice than a position, in that he took them to himself. Same as with Itkovian, where the whole deal was that he was not formally SA anymore, having lost his connection to Fener. He just knew how, and sort of became his own SA, for the Tlan Imass. Thus he contained all the bad within himself instead of giving it to a god to handle.
I cant remember any hint that Heboric giving it to anyone either...

Hood's minted breath, where does it say Wu is the name of the world? How can I have read over 6000 pages and not known that?
If there were no smart people others wouldn't feel inadequate.

Right?

Wu was the petname Erikson and Esslemont used for the world. It doesn't really have any name but it was a nice substitute. It's short and to the point.

Personally I prefer to call the world Burn, like the goddess.

The name Wu does pop up once or twice in the books. I think both times is in the chapter openings. There's a poet or historian called Wu.

Isnt it Wu's Closet in Saltoan where the name comes from? i Mean in the book im fairly sure Erikson got it from a Steely Dan song (or someone told me that anyway)

I agree with Sotgnomen. I don't see why Heboric had to be SA to anyone at all. He just took the souls from the Jade Statues "into" himself.

He made a deal with Trake. There was no mention of breaching that deal and he was still possesed with the traites of the Tiger of Summer when he died.

Heboric didn't have to be SA to anyone. However he did have to be something to Trake... the reason being the emboldened part of Apt's reply...

Check the date on the post...

If it was a fact then he wouldn't have said "wondered" I imagine.

Nice necro though :p

And a double post besides...Fixed now.

I have no more posts now! Wtf Grief, it's because of the Goodkind thread isn't it? Speaking of which I'll get back to that soon :p

I assumed he meant "I wonder if we'll see Heboric in Chaur in DoD" or something.

I know right? ;)
I still heart Goodkind.
