Just found out I won a copies of the Warriors and Songs of the Dying Earth anthologies from Tor.com. I'm pumped!

Killing time while I was waiting for my unit to be cleaned, I wandered into the local secondhand bookstore and picked up the Chronicles of the Black Company Omnibus (first 3 books) TPB in fairly good nick for $14.

It was just the one copy. They also had a hardcover copy of Heroes Die for $6 that I picked up for a friend for Christmas. And I nabbed myself a copy of Elric: The Sleeping Sorceress on clearance for 50 cents.

The other day I bought China Mieville's Perdido Street Station and The Scar. I need to end this terrible habit of buying books that end up 10 books deep in my To Read pile.
We sail in and out of Time, then back again. There is only one ship, the captain says. All the ships we hail between the galaxies or suns are this ship.

I have books from last Christmas that I haven't read. I want to read them but other things came out and begged to be read instead.
I buy books all the time that fall deep into the To-Read pile and I look at them and wonder, shit, when will I get to that one?

My TRP is nauseatingly high and there is SO MUCH ready goodness in there... hell, HIS DARK MATERIALS have been somewhere in the middle of the pile for like three years now... SIDE JOBS is waiting for me to finish Stonewielder... the entire ALARA CODEX just below it, most of Rollins' SIGMA FORCE is just below that... GOD OF CLOCKS, a pile of Gemmel books, some Stross, some Stirling, piles of da Silva spy stuff, the original ILLUMINATI trilogy...

I am patiently awaiting your thoughts on the CODEX ALERA series...as I found that after book 3 it gets into Dresden-crack-like territory of awesomeness IMHO.
