It's got some cool stuff, but it also has a guy with magic hair.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I've read book one of the noontide quartet, and have the other three.
But I've felt no real compulsion to pick up book two and it's been a year.

I thought the first was serviceable enough but he makes the mistake of having characters do things for pure shock value.
I say that with a pinch of salt given my own Kaenna is a horrid little shit for stuff like that, but Hair's characters come out of character or are forced into scenarios where supremely horrible things just happen to them. I finished the second book and DNF'd the series from there.

After being somewhat disappointed by the last effort of James Rollins Sigma books, I decided to switch to digital for him as an author, and I grabbed two of the most recent Sigma's that I didn't yet have, THE SEVENTH PLAGUE and THE DEMON CROWN on kindle for about $7 each. Well worth it I think.
I also grabbed the 4th and last volume in Wilbur Smith's Ancient Egypt series THE QUEST (because they've gone and switched cover art again and this might be the only chance I'd have had to finish out the quadrology in the cover format I have. So I'm happy to have found it!

Out running errands. Dropped by Chapters, naturally. "Rise and fall of the D.O.D.O." went paperback.
I'm yet to read a Stephenson novel I didn't enjoy, so this was a no-brainer.

I'm so tempted to read this after the epic glorious awesomesauce on a stick from heaven dipped in honey that was Tigana once I finish Fitz 9 but I really need to get back on the Malazan reread and I promised myself that after how great Tigana was I wouldn't read Lions while also reading other books.
Never has a post so made me want to give rep and vomit a little in my own mouth at the same time.

Bought my first Tad book, The Dragonbone Chair. I like the size of this but I was more impressed by the girth of the book next to it, To Green Angel Tower.

Well whatever you do don’t listen to Abyss’s opinion on it or Tigana. Other then those 2 great reads/disputes his opinions should be considered.
Tigana is a mediocre work as far as GGK is concerned.
If you like it, you should enjoy everything else he wrote, except possibly Ysabel (never read that one, so no opinion).
I really need to pick up Children of Earth and Sky, btw...

Yeah fair to say if you actually enjoy Tigana you’ll like most of GGK’s work. For me it was really weak compared to most of his other work. I had the same problem with LAST LIGHT OF THE SUN, but that doesn’t get nearly the chatter that Tigana does.

GGK is incredibly divisive on this forum as to what people like, but we all agree on one thing:
Do not read Ysabel. Even if you're tempted to as a contrarian, just don't. It's that bad.

Last Light was very... average. But it was coherent from start to finish, and had one really nice small time-lapse sequence I still remember even when I forgot basically the entire plot. So it had that super-evocative "GGKay" emotional tone to it.
I remember next to nothing of Tigana, except being underwhelmed. I'd really like to find the time to re-read Sarantine books, because I don't recall much of the plot, either, but, sigh, so little time, and the TRP just keeps growing...

My 'problem' is that i more or less read GGK in reverse order from LIONS on back... Lions, Arbonne, Saratine, Fionavar trilo, Tigana, Last Light. In essence the books got progressively worse at a certain point (tho i actually enjoyed the FIONAVAR TAPESTRY ).
I'm overdue to read UNDER HEAVEN, RIVER and CHILDREN, but audible seems to have rights issues with some of his works.
