I mentioned elsethread that i pre-ordered ART OF DESTINY by Wesley Chus, and that dls to my greedy little ears on Oct 10.
As i was checking my pre-orders i noticed Benedict Jacka's next/newest AN INHERITANCE OF MAGIC lands the same day.
I love being spoiled.

As a fan of the Daevabad trilogy (which I got on ebook on sales originally) by Shannon Chakraborty, I've done the thing I usually do to support an author I love and I've purchased the whole trilogy in physical form to keep on my shelf, and Chakraborty will be a physical purchase for me going forward as well. I haven't bought a physical copy of THE ADVENTURES OF AMINA AL-SIRAFI yet, or the RIVER OF STARS short story book, but I plan on it.
I also bought another Palestine Non-fiction book to read; THEY CALLED ME LIONESS: A PALESTINIAN GIRLS FIGHT FOR FREEDOM by Ahed Tamimi & Dana Takruri which is Tamini's recorded struggle against the Settlers who encroached and eventually annexed most of her village in the West Bank.

went browsing thru Chapters. Wanted the 4th Dandelion Dynasty book, but they were out.
So instead grabbed "Battleground", a Dresden book I don't think I own.
I should probably do a big Dresden re-read whenever I finish Rhythm of War.

I saw Jim Butcher last night at a bookstore in Denver. He was there for the releasw of Cinder Spires book 2, but he also answered a bunch of Dresden questions. I realized that I'm like 3 books behind on Dresdencrack! I might re-read some of the later books to refresh my memory before going into the new ones.

Jacka's newest was fun! Cool world, perhaps a tad too progression fantasy-y, but overall, very enjoyable.

I got in the Audible 2 for 1 sale THE ADVENTURES OF AMINA AL-SIRAFI and THE MALEFICENT SEVEN for 1 credit. Rather happy about that deal as they've both been in my list to read for a while.

I went book shopping for Christmas gifts yesterday, and got myself Malice by John Gwynne. He's got a good reputation right? I see his book covers around a lot and they're mostly really cool -- actually not so much the ones for this first series though, but the later separate ones with the dragons and wolves. But I might as well start with this one.
Anyway, one thing I wanted to mention was there was a mom or auntie in the SFF section getting help from a worker, like getting a bunch of recs for gifts, and the worker was giving her the hard sell on Pierce Brown. Pretty neat!

They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Gwynne has a great reputation.
Red Rising can catch people in a way that's getting non SFF people too.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Yes/Yes.
Two very tempting Humble Bundles on now. One is a very extensive HELLBOY set, the original series, the HELLBOY IN HELL folllow up, a bunch of one shots and some o the BPRD stuff. Pretty sure i'll scoop that one up.
Also tempting is the entire 'new' SHERLOCK HOLMES series by James 'Age of Ra/Zeus/Odin/Etc' Lovegrove, in earbook. The series seems to have been well received and in particular the four part CTHULHU CASES that set Sherlock and Watson against everyone's favorite things beyond mortal comprehension. If any of you have read these i'd appreciate your take.

Was out in the very West end tonight, and managed to snag a copy of "The Speaking Bones", the last Dandelion Dynasty books.
Finishing this will be part of my New Year's Resolutions, lol.

Did some browsing thru the bookstore today.
Picked up "A little hatred". I'm starting to think what I'll be reading this summer at the beachouse, and I think I wanna catch up on First Law, now that the new trilogy's out.
Also grabbed something called "Fire and Blood" by some obscure screenwriter called George Martin.

An auspicious day! I had some Waterstones gift cards for Christmas and I spent an enjoyable lunchtime browsing books. I bought "Babel" by RF Kuang; "The Art of Prophecy" by Wesley Chu (thanks QT and Abyss!); the "Magicians" trilogy by Lev Grossman.
Oh and I also picked up "Fools and Mortals" by Bernard Cornwell for £1 in a charity shop.

I bought hardcover edition of FoD and FoL.Already have paperbacks, but I value them so much I wanted to have hardcover. A day of searching, decided that subterranean press is way beyond what I would like to pay. Had to be both Tor or both Bantam. The problem was that there were no Bantam FoL hardcovers to be found. And for Tor, almost all were from US and more expensive because of shipping cost to Europe. I settled for about 80 euro for the both of them, both 'very good' condition, so I hope they are.

Last weekend I picked up mmpb of "Forge of the High Mage", as well as "The Shadow casket", which is volume 2 of The Darkwater Legacy by Chris Wooding, the author of the "Braided Path" trilo and the Ketty Jay books.
I don't remember much from "The Ember Blade", but I do recall being interested in seeing where the story was going in Book 2. I'll likely need a re-read though, b/c that was ages ago.

As per reading thread, Amazon has this week delivery to my neck of the woods.
As such, a bit of a Staveley binge, grabbing "The Last Mortal Bond" "Skullsworn" and also "The Empire's Ruin", which is volume 1 of the new trilo.
