Gesler and Stormy are ascending, if they have not already ascended.

Sinn, however, is a High Mage, untutored, and she, like grubb, seems to be getting info from somewhere.

Yes, Either Gesler or Stormy has become a shield anvil. It was speculated that it was of Fener, but that is pretty much dead.

My Guess? An arising god of fire. However, Shield Anvils are related to gods, not warrens. Who is the incoming god of fire?

Hmmm Gesler is the god and Stormy is the sheild anvil?

As far as Sinn being like Grub as far as her power is concerned I am not sure I agree with that. No one really knows where Grub came from or even who his parents are. For all we know he is another Rud though I doubt it. From the little excerpts SE puts in front of every chapter Grub's "story" takes place much later. Probally around the same time as Coltaine v2.0. I forget the exact quote but somewhere in BH i think it talks about him being the greatest general the Malazans ever had. I wish I had my books with me but I guess this happens when you troll at work.

Yeah, in one of the chapter openers in either tBH or HoC, it mentions him being all kinds of awesome in "The late Empire period"
I think someone started a thread about that being a real spoiler to them, as it indicated that the Apocalypse failed, so it must have been in HoC
As for Sinn... I believe some have suggested that she's related to a new human warren of Ice, b/c of the way she pushed icebergs around
@ Gem--Toc as a god would be awesome... although knowing him and his luck, he'd be the most short-lived god that Wu ever saw... still, with me being a huge Toc fanboy, have rep for the idea

No, I didn't say they were alike in power. I said they were both getting knowledge from somewhere. IE all of what Grubb knows. How Sinn knew people were still alive, how she knows hot to kill the ice, I don't think shes a 'magical prodigy', there is something else there.

you know, if there was to be a god of fire i think it would be sinn. i dont think she is using a warren of ice, she's using fire. when the pwns those glaciers it causes all sorts of steam which would indicate that she is using heat to melt them. plus she basically put that inferno in y'ghatan in its place long enough to save a lot of soldiers. so if i had to vote for the new god of fire, it would be sinn.
then with her mortal sword gesler, shield anvil stormy and destriant tavore she will turn the 14th into her bonehunting red blades, forever shaming those 7C imposters.

I don't think that at this point any of them is truly a god yet. Sinn is an exceptionally talented, if uneducated, high mage - she may well have the potential for godhood though.

Stormy and Gesler are definitely ascendants in my opinion, but not gods. While they may also have the potential I don't see them desiring true godhood. Then again, there isn't always a choice. Geslers dream may not be true at this moment, but it may be a hint toward future worshippers, which could make him - and possibly Stormy too - into gods.
Flying Monkeys definitely win.

Well, I go the impression that Sinn got those skills, 'cept they were hidden deep down inside, and it needed a bit of a kick-start in the form of a near-death experience/situation to get them out.

I think this is definately an interesting theory, about them ascending into a (new?) High House of flame. I find myself agreeing with the ascending part however disagreeing with the house they would ascend into. Gesler and Stormy where annealed in the fires of Kurald Thyrlan if I am not mistaken aka the elder warren of Light. So it would be more logical if they would ascend into the High House of Life in my opinion.

Also I wouldnt expect a new High House of fire to come into being in the last books. First of all it would take away some of the power and mystery surounding the birth of the lastest high House (of war) in tBH. Even more important is the fact that I think that we basically allready have a High House of fire...

Which is the High House of life. This may come across abit weird unless you remember one the older lines in these books: "Fire is life. Life is fire"
Now it is possible to write this of as a GotM-ism but since it has never been contradicted yet, not to mention is a line I am fond of, I would like to give it some meaning.

Sorry for derailing abit

only reason, i'm arguing this, is because i'm just re-reading RG, and Mael's thoughts are quite clear "Life came from water", lol
Also, if they were annealed by Kurald Thyrlann, wouldn't Light be a more obvious House choice?

Well if you remember during the Chain of Dogs when Gesler and Stormy and Truth show up at the river and meet with Coltaine. At one point, Gesler just cold clocks Coltaine. I remember something about Coltaine being just shy of Ascended himself and everyone was surprised that he hurt Coltaine. I remember something about Gesler being half-ascended, at least someone making that comment.

Don't have the books with me if someone wants to look it up.

I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I believe (and no quote handy) that yes Coltaine punched Gesler in the face (busting and maybe breaking his nose) and breaking his own wrist/hand in the process.... and when the warlocks saw geslers blood on the ground they could tell he was damn near ascended (might have been orange blood or something, or they could feel it.

That’s when they were shocked, they said something along the lines of "if Gesler is near ascended and got his nose broke by Coltaine, what does that make Coltain?" or something along those lines...

also, there's nothing quite like a House of Fire as far as we know.
