The other side could do likewise and get some other freaks to ascend to the gods of chance. If they made the move they'd have the advantage.
If the CG wanted seriously to install someone their he'd corrupt/bribe the twins or remove them and find a replacement. I think it's dangerous to sit back and expect nothing to happen.

Oponn are finished, I think. Not dead, but they seem to be losing power at every turn. GotM was when they seemed to be ascendant powers(in the rising sense of the word), but with the loss of Chance and the Coin, they were in trouble. Then, the Errant decided he'd take em on... and finally, in tBH, a soldier (Fiddler, I assume) "stole their power"
