"insert adjective here" female canine? that certainly describes her attitude well..
I'm curious how well she'll do as a high Priestess of a god she despises...

In MT you see her as a mix between the slave that feels she is better than indebted slaves and the wisewoman of the letherii slaves that leads Udinass as much as he leads her. In MT, while they were both still slaves, they seemed like a good match.

In RG when both of them are free, you see their difference. As a free man Udinass doesn't change, you could say he remains the (subservient? (not really)) slave, a man who dreams of nothing and feels no will to rise above his position. FW has learned nothing and only dreams of power and revenge. She covets what she cant have and plots against everything and everyone. She hasn't grown, rather she's regressed, into something cold and primitive.

They did seem like a good match in MT; Udinaas ceased being an indebted and they had shared so many experiences. Had Mayen not started beating Feather Witch, I think there is a good chance that she may have gotten over the fact that he "stole" the wyval from her.

However, I disagree with your assessment of Udinass. I don't think that he felt no will to rise above his position; in his own life, however, he had seen the suffering caused by those who took power and was unimpressed with its allure. He was a survivor because he used his superior intellect.

nah, she has definitely played out her role as a semi-important support character in two books.

Anybody else wondering when the Errant is going to bite it? And how it will go down?

And no you can't say Mael

The Errant isn't going to die. He'll build up his power base now that he's gathered worshippers again, send missionaries over the water and begin a war with Oponn.

Hmmm...I see him getting it very badly in the end. Let's face it... a lot of Ascendants/Gods are going to get offed soon...especially once we see who is allying with the Crippled God and who isn't...and who is trying to stay out of it...ohhhhh the bloodshed

The Errant is a survivor, mark my words. He'll be here at the end of the story, he's just the type of guy to pull it off. The Errant dying is just too obvious, but obvious sometimes works.

I eagerly await conclusion.

You make a good point. Maybe Mael will turn into a giant crab and attack him....go Godzilla on his ass.

The Errant is scrappy....I'll give you that

Well, it's not enough that the Erant trapped Mael who was on his way to help Tehol, but he was also responsible for the death of Trull, lets just say that Mael is NOT happy with him. The fact that Mael pointed out "there will be time to deal with him (Errant) later" before heading over to help Seren makes me think he wont just go Hong-Kong Phooey on his arse, it will a well calculated, painfull, maybe even eeeevil payback . Mmmmm...now I am drooling...

Yeah Mael definitely has a darker, harder side to him. Who knows though...SE may end up having them ally together...but I doubt it. The Errant is going down...but he'll probably take a few people with him

sorry mods on the "what the crap..." was going along with my earlier "what the crap is tavore's deal" post. I'll try to be less "ugly" with my thread titles in the future. Is it proper to be "nicer" in the discussion forum titles than we are in the Inn?

agree on errant going down. He's just set up so well to take a fall now. No warshippers, one eye, too pissed off to see straight with the remaining one, blind to the pattern of the tiles...he's gonna end up with the other forgotten gods in ye olde bottome of ye sea. I doubt Mael will hesitate to toss him down there either after that trick the errant pulled in trapping him.

And good insight on Featherwitch. I guess she really was just a messed up kid...I thought there might be something deeper to her situation, making it less simple than what you'd expect, but I guess not.

New question:

I wonder if her ability with the tiles gave her the ability to force herself into being the errant's high priestess. I mean, can anybody just say "I'm high priestess of (insert obscure god)" and have immediate control or was she helped by her magical abilities?

I think anyone can call themselves a highpriestess, but they need some kind of blessing for them to have power, like the Warlock Kings prayer to Scabby that gave him a sanctified temple of Emurhlan.

FW got her power through eating the Errants eye.

We heard in RG that Gods, unless they free themselves of the chains of worship, are bound by their mortal worships. Remember how when Mael moved all those people, his own power was diverted, and his priests/worshippers ralied against him for once actually using his power.

That said, unless Mael did something we didn't hear, then the Errant is stronger than he has been in a long time, FW work has triggered a resurgence in the worship of the Errant. We hear this in the epilogue with Pedacs POV.

apt- if mael didnt care about trull why would he go visit his widow? i think that mael has some secret allegiances we have only gotten hints about, why exactly was it him that went with killy to off scabandari? could be that maels MO is to see shadow unsundered.

I think Oponn may have stolen the march on the Errant, Apt.

Corabb (the Lady's chosen) is already in the Lether area. And if my Crazy Theory about Hellian being male Oponn's favourite is right, Oponn have 2 'agents' there. Apart from that, master of the Holds or not (and I don't think that title can be reclaimed easily) Oponn vs. the Errant is still 2 vs. 1...

It all depends on how long the Bonehunters will stay in Lether, I guess. :)

Off Topic, but slightly related to my above point: if the army stays there for a while, there is also the possibility of Gesler and Stormy finding Fener...

hmmm.. Last we seen them, the Twins were in a middle of a fiery explosion... I could assume that Para and ST already killed them without us knowing about it....

It was Obo that blasted them and no hey weren't killed. If they had we'd have heard about it and also it's not a good idea to remove Gods at the moment.

With Oponn gone whould another ascendant, of the CGs choosing, then be able to take the place? it is very likely and therefor it's better just to keep the evil twins in place.
