Quotes or it didn't happen.
Page 544 TPB:
Quote
"Soletaken," [Poliel] said in a thin voice, "do not frighten me".
Page 548 TPB (with no mention of Soletaken in between):
Quote
"Not Soletaken," Paran was saying to the goddess writhing on her throne ... "not Soletaken at all, although it might at first seem so
It did happen.
Edited to extend second quote.

Wrong. Poliel says he is Soletaken. Paran has to correct her.
You're right, I was wrong. Sorry about that.

I believe Paran's ascended. In GotM he's assasinated then resurrected by Oponn. When Tayshrenn was reviewing the mistakes made by the Empire, I think it was in MoI, he mentioned that Tattersail was being groomed to become the next Mistress of the Deck. Her death on the plains in GotM resulted in the position falling to Paran, I think because of his proximity to her at the time of her death.
Right after Tattersail's death, the Hounds show up on the plains between Pale and Darujistan, along with Rake. The next thing Paran knows, he comes into contact with Hound blood and then he's in Dragnipur. I think Paran ascended in GotM and everything else flowed from there. Later, he blesses the BB and they ascend. He can enter the Azath houses freely. Can mortals do all that without being ascended?

First of all, the Bridgeburner's ascension was mainly due to Kimloc, the Tanno Spiritwalker.
Secondly, it has already been stated by people in the know that Paran is an ascendant. Why is this threat still open?

Umm.. small thing there. Technically, he didn't die. His soul didn't cross the gate. He just had a near-death experience, lol
As to when he ascended--debatable. But by tBH he's definitely an Ascendant.
Also, mortals who enter Azath--Crokus, Rellock, Pust, Mule, Fiddler, Dancer, Kellanved, Urko, Catheron, Nok, Hawl, Toc the Elder... Temper
The list can go on.

Paran is not an ascendant. He is the Master of the Deck.

You say it as if it were a fact...Apt, you are stubborn. Although you are perfectly allowed to hold it until the day you die unless SE contradicts you.

You say Paran is ascended like it was a fact, which it isn't... I say you people are the ones that are stubborn
Truth be told I'd expect him to have ascended/become truly soletaken just from the exposure to hounds blood... But it's not certain.
Apt, stubborn like a shadowmule. hee haw.

He is an ascendant, im afraid. Time to face facts lol. He was on the edge of ascendancy in MoI, then he went and explored the Jaghut underworld, and killed Poliel. Thats got to push him over that precipice.
