What do those infinitely bored Azath Guardians do in their copious spare time anyway? I propose that they might prosecute old grievances and my money's on Gothos

I dont know... GOTM made raest out to be one of the most powerful beings around... he freakin wounded Burn, without his finnest and still, fought 4-5 dragons at once....

Raest was imprisoned. Twice. No-one appears to tell Gothos to do anything. Gothos wins.
Gothos seems a bit like Rake tbh. Now that'd be a match.

from what ive gathered Gothos pretty much made deals with everyone and stayed out of fights.. sure he is powerful, but his fighting ability has never been seen...
Gothos reminds me of Methos (highlander) if anyone knows who that is.
Raest has been captured twice... never killed... no one has been able to do away with him for good... noone has been powerful enough...

My money is on Gothos, he seems much more calculating and has spent more time thinking about strategy.
Raest seems more reactive. He may have more horsepower, but cunning and wiles wins every time.

I say gothos wins because he has the power to.freeze over continents and treat Mael as an equal

Raest would treat Mael as a servant.... a man servant... who would have to cook for him...

I say Gothos
If he gets in trouble he will just call on every damn good or ascendant that owes him a favour, and that would be the end of Raest
Of course if it's a simple fight between the two, without any time to prepare anything special...like a continent-freezing spell, and not any chance of getting help from others, i think it would be a VERY even fight
...Gothos would win anyway though

Raest, in a total knock down drag out frozen pond type of fight. I think that It would be a slap fight. The winner would get to rot in Azath for the rest of eternity, so would the loser, only he would be getting cleaning up all of the monkey poo.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

I'd like to take the time here and point out the Wile E. Coyote vs. Roadrunner case. ;p Though one could say that the roadrunner indeed outsmarted willy every time.
On topic... as we all know, oftentimes the winner gets to write history.
And since Gothos singlehandedly recorded much of the history of the entire world... he must have quite a few battles under his belts, and quite a few ears hanging off his belt. Hah.
Crazy theory... Gothos was a PC.

hmmm.. Memories of Ice?
Paran: "The what? Hood's breath, the Azath had better find a way to undo that choice, Jaghut.
Raest: It cannot be undone, as I've already told you. A Master is needed, so here you are.
Paran: "I don't want it!"
Raest: "I weep a river of tears for your plight, mortal. Ah, we have arrived.
Or...
Raest: Walk into the darkness"
P: And if I refuse?
R: Then I kill you.
P: Unforgiving bastard, this Azath.
R: I kill you, not the Azath, but for the wasted effort of this joyrney. Mortal, you've no sense of humour
P: and you think you do?
R "If you refuse to go further, then... nothing. Apart from irritating me, that is. The Azath is patient. You will make the journey eventually, though the privilage of my escort occurs but once and that once is now."
P: "Meaning I won't have your cheery company next time? How will I cope?"
R: "Miserably, if there was justice in the world".
P: "And is there?"
R: "You ask that of a Jaghut? Now, do we stand here for ever?"

Gothos has the power and the ego to mess around with Mael and Killy seemingly without any worry, and voluntarily took himself out of the world. He seems to be really apathetic, so I don't think we'd like to see what would happen to Reast if he lost his temper. Don't forget he is Icarium's Dad, and we know what happens when He gets angry.
Also, SE has mentioned that if there was one ascendant he'd want as a shaved knuckle in the hole it would be Gothos, and that is good enough for me!
Raest in Peace Tyrant!!!

I am suprised most think Gothos would win. I dont think we have seen a power level as that of Raest in the series so far, and he did it all without his finnest. maybe thats just a GOTM phenomenon.
