I know I should be happy after a 5-2 at Fenerbahce (where noone's beaten them for years in the CL), but our defence was truly awful. Caught out by balls over the top about 50 times, scored an own goal, had to clear off the line, had to rely on half a dozen top drawer stops from Almunia. Defend like that against a good side and we'd have been mullered.

Ah well, we were good going forward and missing 3 first choice defenders I guess, so I should probably let up a bit. :)

The Villareal Aalborg game looks good, 6-3, bloody hell!

I watched the united game, good to see that they can still rely on consistently ridiculous refereeing at old trafford even outside the premiership *cue rolling eyes*

Being fair, only the second was a really bad decision. I think the first was offside, but it was a matter of millimeters and even with the freeze-frame and the handy line it was hard to tell. And Rooney had a good goal disallowed.

And we played really well.

Also, in counter to Toblerone, I'm really pleased with our defence, and more specifically in this case, the strength in depth. O'Shea looked comfortable at left-back, Neville looked out of his depth so Brown came in (and Rafael has impressed too), and Rio's injured? No problem, because Jonny Evans is frigging awesome. Kid's only 20 and he already looks at home in our defence.

Why must thou mock me with thine defence who actually number more than 5, can tackle, and can head a ball?

*grumbles about the need for a new CB and DM*

You finally got rid of Senderos and you're still complaining about the defence? Eesh.

Agree with pg about Evans though, he looked pretty good, even if Celtic didn't really pose much of a threat for 80 minutes.

We replaced him with Silvestre. SILVESTRE.

Plus we still got Eboue, and Gallas seems determined to ensure we concede, even if he has to manufacture chances for the other team for them.

Get online ye bastard, incidentally. :)

Man U is so consistenly lucky it makes me sick. But not as sick as that dumass Berbatov makes me... that guy is useless but he gets two BS goals that should have been called back.

Rooney is playing like a man possessed lately which is awesome.

Inter Milan and Barcelona I think have a very good chance of winning this year. Both have extremely sold squads.
I have returned anew, wistfully my course holds true.

didnt see the games, watchingm the highlights on itv now.
Aliev is a disgrace, he should have been sent straight off.
Rolling on the ground to try break arsenals attack as soon as the ball came back to kiev he bounced up and shot off.

Not to mention kicking a free kick into Denilson who was trying to lace his boot up, in order to get the player punished. Still, the mighty Arsenal progess to the knockout stages so life is good.

ronaldo did his usual stunt of rolling about like a small child on fire then standing up and being fine a minute later, but thats standard operation for him.
and at least he pretends to limp for a minute.

He is Portuguese, so it's most likely a genetic trait, can't blame him for it...

Bit harsh on Ronaldo. I think he overreacted (he is a pansy) but did ye not see the marks on his knee?
He's started doing the rolling around more this year though which is annoying because last year he didn't.

if all stays as it is, we top the group (though once it gets to the last 16 really it isnt the massive boost its cracked up to be)
Barca losing 3-2 to shaktar (assuming it finishes so) is a bit of a shock, the highlights from that shoul;d be interesting

Barca basically played a Carling Cup side from what I heard. They'd already won their group. First loss in twenty matches but I don't suppose they mind much.
