Cheers pat, it's definitely useful to have someone on the inside, as it were.
The only way we got listened to previously (getting Tor to decide against using their originally proposed DhG cover, which was truly atrocious) was basically bombarding them with emails complaining;) This is a much more friendly way of getting things right!

Well done Pat. I really hope they decide to do this with every book of the series, that would be the ultimate collection.
Thanks for keeping us updated

For any Americans interested, Amazon.com is currently doing 37% off (the numbered edition, clearly;)) for pre-orders, taking it down to under $80. Don't forget to use the links at the top of the board!
Damn you! Why did you post this?

amazon.com seems to work well enough when ordering from Europe as well.

I'm getting very frustrated...I want my 330dollar book!
They were so optimistic in their release dates...we're 2 months away from it being 1 year to the announcement

Is it merely the artwork that's slowing it down or are there other factors?

My God it's been that long?!?
I need a reason to start the series over...again, and you damn well know you're going to read it once you get it.

So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."
I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.

They really did just take our money and never printing the book...

I guess thats really my main gripe. I understand it takes time for artists to work and they have multi deadline projects running in concurrence. The delay on this however is highly unprofessional. I have commissioned artists to do work who are busy and have other things going on. I understood it would take 8 months for a oil to go from concept to finished. it just seems Komarck is more interested in churning out WoW TCG then finishing the commitment to this book art wise due to dollars? who knows really.

I'm pretty upset about it as well. Don't take my money if you can't deliver the product, or at least say "Reserved" so I understand it won't be for a while until I receive the god damn book.

I'm highly suspicious they used the pre-order money to finance the commission for the artist. Considering the work being done, along with the cost of an artist of his caliber. it wouldn't surprise me if it was lack of funds being delivered by sub press that he is holding off delivery of the final prints.

They receive $78,100 from all sales and since copies of the numbered are still available I suppose they have less than that from the book...how much profit do you think sub. makes off this? They have to pay TOR for the right to publish, they have to pay the artist, they have to publish...doesn't seem like a big cash cow for them

that was my point. I believe they did not have the capital commited to meet the needs of finishing the project, and maybe relied off sales to fund the artist's commission, thus maybe causing the holdup of the finished prints due to lack of payment?
I personally cant think of any reason its been this bloody long is all.

I wouldn't be surprised if on occasion companies took hits on stuff like this.
Look at how much prices have gone up ion the last year, the cost of printing and paper might have risen, and numbers might have sold as well as hoped.
But then again, maybe Sub Press isn't great at doing this sort of thing?
Could be any of a hundred reasons.
