Whoops, I didn't mean Rake and Envy had children at all. I didn't think Rake had any "Tiam" children either as none have been mentioned that I can think of. What I meant was that the Andii on Drift Avali are Rake's children, and that their mothers were Andii, and from them, the grandchildren had Andii mothers and fathers, all living on Drift Avali. That basically was why I did not think any would be soletaken as there was never a mother who was soletaken. Just my take on it......

No, I think you were right. The Draconian Family Tree says Rake and Envy are the parents of Phaed and Nimander. Though it has proven unreliable.

Well, I think this may prove it is somewhat unreliable, because in RG it definitely says Phaed saw her mother's head on the Silanda, so it can't be Envy. Although Envy could possibly be Nimander's mother.

I think Nimander is probably Rake and Envy's son, but the huge amount of uncertainty surrounding things means we can't be sure yet.

As to the soletaken inheritance thing, it's probably the case that in most cases of you have soletaken draconean parents, you will be soletaken yourself, but due to genetics, there's also the chance that you won't, I'm sure someone worked out a whole dominant and recessive draconean gene thing which fit, though obviously very simplified and genetically incorrect.

Probably the most accurate you get is, if your parent is draconean, the chances are you will be draconean, unless SE says differently ;)

The only hard and fast rulse we have though are if you are the child of tiam, you will be draconean soletaken, and if one of your parents are draconean soletaken you have the chance of being a draconean soletaken.

Just to throw some more confusion and after another GotM not-as-much-as-reread - the Galayn Lord in the end (who is a demon and therefore should be Aral Gamelon creature) is also considered by Rake to be draconean soletaken (he also veers in the battle etc). So it's not only some Elder Gods, Olar Ethil (maybe an Elder God according to the Draconean Tree) and the spawn of Tiam blood drinkers who can veer into dragons.

Well, the Galayn Lord could have imbibed Tiam's delicious internal fluids himself, to become Soletaken. She is pretty easy.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

The example of Rud makes it undeniable that being a Soletaken Eleint is an inherited trait (since there is no chance that he has drunk the blood of Tiam). But apart from that, it's far from clear. We need to know more.

Menandore was a soletaken elient and Udinass had the blood of a Wyval in him at the time of their pairing which most likely facilitated Rud's becoming a soletaken Elient aswell. This would explain why Menandor's mating with a "normal" mortal would produce a soletaken elient where it usually woudn't.

It seems like all the other are the production of Tiam+mortal/immortal with the exception of Draconus and Sheltatha Lore who produce spite and envy...

SO:

1) Tiam + anyone = Soletaken Elient
2) Soletaken Elient + Soletaken Elient = Soletaken Elient
3) Soletaken Elient + mortal = mortal (albeit probably more powerful then your average mortal)
4) Soletaken Elient + Mortal w/ draconian blood in him = Soletaken Elient (kinda like option B but cheating)

2) Soletaken Elient + Soletaken Elient = Soletaken Elient

Not necessarily, envy isn't soletaken, soletaken eleint + soletaken eleint = possibly soletaken, possibly mortal.

Anyone think that maybe Tiam goes both ways, and Ladies yearn for power just as much as men?

I am still a fan of the recessive gene.
Call soletaken elient Natural (born that way) SEN.
Call soletaken elient Unnatural(did the dirty deed with tiam) SEU.
Call mortal M.
Call Elder God EG.

So, each parent brings 2 pairs of genes to the mix.

M and EG are dominant.
SEN and SEU are not.

So, SEN or SEU has to come from BOTH parents.

To make things even more interesting... perhaps Each parent only passes on 1 gene, and it can be any of them that they have.

IE, Rake could pass on either M or SEU. - If he and silandah had cute little babies, they could be either/or.

Now, to make it more fun, perhaps the EG gene, if passed on (go go Draconis) could be a 'trump' gene which could work as either SEU or SEN or EG. - Yes I know this whole theory hinges on Tiam being an elder god. Is she? I dunno.

Heres some food for thought, if K'rul and NightChill decided to rock the heavens, would she give birth to baby elder gods?

Muhahahaha!

Going on the laws we have, the draconic gene must be dominant, as every child of Tiam we have met is draconic, but you can still explain lady envy with a dominant gene, as both draconus and sheltatha have a gene which is non- draconic.

Tiam is an Elder Goddess, I reckon. Ive always seen her as something like Mother Dark, some big scary elemental force (thats after running away and hiding). Perhaps Envy is draconic and just hasnt found the need to semble yet?

Perhaps Envy is sembled.

Her true form is a Dragon and she sembles to a female when required.

She can certainly use SD.

Bizarre thought i know but anything goes with SE.

I am bad purely because im pointless. "

Yeah. And after all, I get the feeling that only Eleint can use SD!

Not strictly true....iirc in MOI when Tattersail attacks bellurdan in a huge conflageration of Warrens. *paraphrasing*Tool is listing the warrens used to adjunct Lorn. And SD is one of them.

Edit: Unless Nightchill or Bellurdan are Soletaken eleint, but thats not been mentioned.:Erm:

Nightchill might be, considering shes an Elder Goddess. Maybe she helped herself to Tiams lovely red fluids. Tho I have no evidence.
Or maybe its just GotMism again lol.

Wasn't most of the warrens used by Krul being the creator of them when he had a hand in the conflagration and created tattersil etc. Im sure Tool said something along those lines at the time.

And isn't Krul Draconian?

He certainly has some power over Soletaken laws( its the most convenient description) as shown when he soletakenifys Buke. And hes old enough to have partaken in Tiams big blood orgy thingy....

True, but i ment in answer to Lance, that the SD used in that instence was by Krul and he is Draconian.
