Carwin - I am doubting Lesner is 100 percent on cardio and i think his rushing in technique will tire him quickly if Carwin can sprawl well enough to fend him off.

But no matter who wins, I predict that Cain Valasquez(sp?) will be the next contender and take the belt from either of them. I also predict that he will hold that belt until he decides to retire, lol

size disadvantage? there is none, hes 1 inch shorter and weighs the same. I think people are really underestimating carwin, i think he will beat lesnar in the second round with a knockout. I really want lesnar to get his ass handed to him.

I too think Lesnar will loose ... well that is what I am hoping,

I don't see how you can say it will be any easy fight for Lesnar, should be his toughest yet...

Now a win for Carwin is not guaranteed either, Lesnar is always going to be dangerous... Carwin has real real real power in his hands and I believe if he gets even one chance to let it loose the fight will end, and he has 5 rounds to do it in...

I see Lesnar maybe winning by TKO from ground and pound but more than likely a dec... if he is going to win...

Carwin has more experience and training in MMA, and is just slightly smaller, he is pretty much the first guy Lesnar has fought that has been in his real weight class (the +265lbs)

I know there is talk about how Carwin hasnt fought much top competition but the results have always been the same, first round stoppage against all comers... even top tier fighters such as Gonzaga and Mir... stopping any trained fighter in the first round takes a lot of skill and talent...

Lesnar has already lost once in his young what 5 fight career. the % sides on the side of Carwin too... any way... that being said anything can happen and if Lesnar is able to execute a sound game plan of keeping Carwin on his back the fight is his to win or loose... Im sure Couture told him as much when they trained together...

ohhhhh also Carwin has Craig Jackson in his camp... and that man is great at creating game plans, another tool the Lesnar doesnt have in his death clutch team...

I hope Leben beats Sexyama, that dude is acting like a diva already, saying Leben wasnt a worthy opponent ect... please sexy has only fought in the UFC once and got a lucky dec win... which i havent watched in a while but i remember thinking Belcher got robbed.... but he is sexy... i mean... ummm nevermind

should be a great night of fights...

Carwin will win if he can keep the the fight upright. He has heavy hands and if he catches Lesner it's over. Although his (Carwin's) background is wrestling (like Lesner), if Lesner gets him to the mat it will be over.

What about Two Saints? I agree that Velasquez will take the title from either Lesnar or Carwin, but he's probably dealing with Two Saints in his next fight.

Carwin is at least two, probably three or four inches smaller than lesnar. Sports Illustrated had Carwin at 6'0". Lesnar's 6'3". At the weigh-ins, Carwin wore shoes during the faceoff.

Do you mean Greg Jackson? I've kind of soured on his fight handling of late (Stevenson, Garcia, Jardine), but maybe the Evans fight signified something.

Jackson also has Gsp, marquadt, Rashad, carwin, Donald cerrone, and even bones jones,

Diego won the UF with jackson he left the camp and now look at him.

There are more but that's the top of the head list.. He is awesome...

Dos Santos is a future champ I think for sure

Rooting for Carwin, but I think lesnar will take him down and go donkey kong on his head for a first or second round tko.

And I almost shit my pants when Fedor lost. I was watching the event on a stream, it worked absolutely perfect up until the stare down in the cage. The audio still worked but I would only see 1 frame of picture every 10 seconds, then pretty much right after he tapped the stream worked fine again. I think Overeem will defend against Werdum.

Also VERY dissapointed Wand got injured, was hoping to see him get another good win.

And I think JDS is better that Velasquez for the record.

Now, before the Nog fight, I'd have favored Two Saints every time. However, in the warm-ups for that fight, Cain was sparring with pads and kept flicking out this truly vicious right kick to the chest/head. To me, that kick solves the takedown problem that JDS presents to so many (he keeps his hands down low, as to sprawl much faster and better). If Cain can not get tagged with the boxing and move those hands up with the kick, his takedowns are exceptional enough to get JDS down and his top game is probably good enough to keep him there.

I'd call it a 50/50 match at this point.

Well you can say that again... you can say that again....

I was impressed with Brocks chin and his ability to weather a storm... the arm neck was a surprise aswell...

not impressed with his stand up

every fight was awesome... a lot of subs so I am happy...

I felt that Lytle should have got the Sub of the night but oh well

Yeah, Lytle should have had sub of the night. He had so many options from that position and I'm surprised the ref recognized the danger of the modified armbar. Brown almost finished him in the first with the D'arce, but it looked like Lytle bluffed him and managed to survive until Brown got tired. I've had the same thing happen to me a few times with a particularly tricky blue who'll sit in an arm triangle or Monson choke until the guy on top gets tired and then escape just before he slips out of consciousness.

Pellegrino fought an awful fight yesterday. He let Snufflephagus beat him to the punch almost every single time, had a rather porous guard and didn't shoot for the takedown much. It was much like the Rashad/Rampage fight a while back, with less wrestling.

Snufflephagus did 90% of his damage on the feet with his left hand, either jabbing or catching Pellegrino with a hook. The few rights he landed weren't doing much, and Pellegrino kept watching for the right the whole fight. So frustrating to watch.

Akiyama should have held on for the decision. He got subbed because he was bone tired. At the end of every round, Akiyama gets so tired that he gets tagged often. He should either be on his bicycle and moving away until the round's over or working on his cardio as not to get tired like that. At a small 185, there's no real reason why he should have that bad cardio.

Tuscherer should get cut. He offered absolutely nothing against Schaub.

I'm amazed Carwin wasn't able to crack Lesnar open on the ground. I think that's where Carwin really needs to improve. The arm triangle was sweet in its setup and incremental closing. Having Lesnar as a jiu-jitsu student must be awesome: all he needs to learn from the top is the guard break, arm triangle, kimura/americana and how to keep a scrambler down. He's never going to get triangled, except by someone like Werdum, and armbars are unlikely. On the bottom, it's probably all leglock defense and how to avoid getting punched in the face.

Although Bonnar was sort of winning the last fight before the headbutt, I picked K-Sos because I thought he could stick and move Bonnar more this time and get away with it. Instead, he chose to make the fight Rounds 4 and 5 of the last fight. Ugh. Kudos to Bonnar for getting tagged that much and still getting the win.

Haven't seen the Romero and Harris wins yet.

Sorry about the triple post. not really sure how that happened.

I don't begrudge giving Brock the Sub of the night award. While Lytle's was technically superior and more exciting, Brock's was unexpected, capped an amazing comeback (both in the fight and his health/career,) was in a title fight, and finished off an undefeated guy. If I had missed the fights and someone had told me about Lytle's sub, I would have appreciated the skill it took but hardly gotten excited. If they then had tod me about the Lesnar fight and the how he ended it with that sub, I would have jumped on the comuter looking for clips from the fight. It was worthy of sub of the night, just like MIrko's was a while back, simply for everything that was going on behind it.

Well if there are multiple subs during a card i think it should go to the most skilled and maybe craziest... one that really stands out as spectacular...

putting a completely gassed (or cramped as Carwins Twitter suggest) fighter in an arm neck triangle from the top is a great finish but a pretty run of the mill submission and on that Carwin should have seen comping and gotten out of... i was screaming for him to answer the phone as soon as the submission started to get locked in... and I was like wow this guy surely knows something i dont... then tap... it is awesome brock went for it and even more awesome that he got it but its a common sub that most BJJ and MMA fighters learn early and it was worked because shane was done already at that point... he got lucky Brock didnt want to just beat on him to get a TKO...

any way I guess thats just me saying Lytle should have got it because it was one that is not seen as much ie flashier required more technique and it worked... Brock got it cuz his name... and he already gets paid an insane amount compared to other fighters...

if possible share the wealth to the other fighters who dont get paid as much but put there asses on the line and could use the Extra cash for their work...

Brock made millions last night he probably will barely notice the extra 75gs...

It was a great slam. However, Modaferri had the counter (snake the arm up the leg) and let it go for some half-assed attempt at something else. Kaufman had another opportunity to do the same thing earlier, but decided to keep Modaferri pinned up against the cage instead of slamming her. I talked it over with my coach and he said that kind of thing is because people forget to train for fights from the bottom like that. He pointed to Arona, who as a very good black belt absolutely should have known better than to let Rampage powerbomb him, Hughes/Newton and a few others as examples of people who should have snaked the arm up, or let go and stood up. Rickson's side of the family apparently will slam the hell out of you if you pull guard on one of them in a non-competition environment. Modaferri let go because it wasn't muscle memory and because she'd forgotten the dangers of slams.

I'm a bit frustrated by women's MMA, as it's really in its infancy. Cyborg Santos is the lone true competitor who's got skill in all aspects of the game. Modaferri is really bad, Kaufman's got an ok boxing game, but isn't a grappler by any stretch of the imagination. I'm hoping Zoila Frausto and a couple others really improve and build a complete game.

In BJJ, we're seeing girls like Hilary Williams, Penny Thomas and a few Brazilians really become great BJJ competitors. In a few more years, I can see many more building complete MMA games, but right now it's like the analogue of the era Royce Gracie dominated. Maybe in six years or so, we'll have WEC-like fights from the women. Not now though.
