right Russow was insane, I was thinking Duffee needed to add more to what he was throwing at him, like kicks and knees maybe even take downs to maybe get a TKO, but damn I never saw that KO coming, Duffee should have spiced his game up more, though he look like he gassed himself with what he did throw,

Liddell VS Franklin is kind of a dream match up that I never thought would happen, and I am just as excited about Pat Berry vs Cro Cop,

I have been a fan of Berry for a while and Im glad he is getting a high profile fight, he has some mean mean mean mean kicks... and of course Crop Cop's kicks are legendary,

I think if Pat keeps improving his ground game (it was terrible last time i saw him hit the ground) he will be a force in the HW division, probably even get up there to title contention...

I am also excited to see Paul Thiago fight he has looked great lately,

and maybe Yvel will be able to look better in his 2nd UFC fight...

I think Barry destroys CroCop. The tentative Filopovic we've seen in the Dos Santos fight is what he is now. Those days of left head kicks being flicked out there are over. I also think that Barry will never be a serious title contender. He's too small of a heavyweight to stand and trade with guys like Dos Santos and Velasquez and I doubt his takedown defense is good enough to deal with Carwin, Lesnar and Gonzaga. He'd beat Duffee right now though.

Paulo Thiago is awesome. His rate of improvement has been staggering and how can you not like someone who looks like Sam the Eagle, but is basically a SWAT team member who fights in his spare time? I think he blows Kampmann out of the cage.

As for Liddel-Franklin, I predict a Liddell decision win. Franklin's coming off hernia surgery and Chuck's been in shape for like 10 weeks straight (as a joke, I said elsewhere that new work ethic is due to Dancing With The Stars).

Rothwell-Yvel is a toss-up to me. I don't really have a dog in the fight, but if Rothwell can get Yvel down, he wins.

Yvel and Rothwell showed some horrible ground game between the 2 of them...

Barry should have showed more killer instinct he could have finished it in the first, as it was he broke his hand and cant believe Crocop tapped him with a choke..
still a good fight, Crocop really loosened up some... i think a saw a crescent kick and and ax kick? ill have to watch it again

Chuck's Chin really is gone, i feel bad for him, i wanted Rich to win but i hate to see chuck loose like that, he was looking sharp...Rich Would have been in trouble if it went into the 2nd... damn broken arm... wtf....

Carlos Condit pulled it out... though why the ref let that guy take a beating for that long only to stop it with a few secs left...he had a chance of winning that fight if he survived to a dec, it wasnt a terrible stoppage by any means but come one man have some heart, bad ass fight though, i was impressed with both of them...

I absolutely agree with that. I missed a good chunk of the card, as my roommate was watching Deadliest Catch - one of his MUST SEE shows - so I waited until after the card was over to watch a few replays. Just about every fight was awesome, even if Shalorus won the Jorge Gurgel prize for Worst Gameplan.

Grispi is alright, but he's not taking Aldo's belt.

WEC always puts on great cards... its where the Quality in MMA is....

I have seen Shalorus more than a few times at local Texas MMA fights... his guys are prolific in there fighting area... The point deduction cost him the win and I felt the commentating was really biased against him... He did a good job against a tough opponent and they gave him no props... the low blows were bad... 1 was right on the button, i think one was just played played up... but everyone kept saying Varner got robbed and i just dont see it... the only round in my maybe biased but not tooooo biased opinion that went to Jamie Varner was the 2nd... with or without the point deduction... at least the judges saw it similar to me, due to the point deduction i was thinking a draw... I saw the 2nd round going from a 10-9 round in favor of Jamie going to a 10-8

watching bellator right now... hopefully its a good card...

oh check out my first cut in training... i have been lucky up until this point and only suffered minor damage... (this is minor too) well my shoulder got f*cked up from a judo through but no one could see that...

and this was from sparing with boxing gloves... but my brother did it to me the bastard... I tell him he goes to hard at times... oh well i kicked the piss out of his body a few secs before...

and Cung Lee.. its unfair for Scott Smith to have to fight him back to back... pretty shitty actually but should be fun to watch...

Varner won the first round pretty handily. Shalorus was pursuing and being active with the kics, but Varner was hitting him hard in the face. I saw that as 10-9 Varner. Shalorus took the second and the third, but the point deduction in the second makes it a 9-9 and a 10-9. Thus, it was a draw to my eyes. One judge absolutely blew it and scored all three rounds for Kamal, which is funny because Cecil Peoples is the one who scored it a draw.

Man Fedor weighed in at 229, I often forgot just how small of a heavy weight is...

He will probably never drop to 205 but I think it would be interesting... I believe in the UFC thats where he would be most competitive... not saying he couldnt beat the top 5 HWs in UFC, its hard to bet against a guy who never lost in a legit fashion... I am just saying with there are some absolute beast coming out of the woodwork over in UFC...

I am kind of worried about his fight tonight... we have seen a few dominant champions already dethroned this year...

Werdum is no slouch... granted on paper Fedor should be able to beat him 9.5 times out of 10...

Its always a treat to watch Fedor fight, and tonight will be the first time I can do so live...

Cung Li layed the smacketh down though... i felt bad for smith having to take that fight again... it was a lose lose situation for him... he had a great gameplan to start and should have stuck with it... he made it a dirty grinding fight at the beginning with the clinch work and really took Cung out of his element and shocked him... but he let the space open up again and never closed it again... and got F*cked up...

Fedor losing touched me on a level that MMA hasn't before. I'm not a fanboy, but his run has been truly astounding and he's entertained/annoyed me for years with his near psychotic calm and managerial hijinks. I seriously sat there just staring into space for about ten minutes with a somber mood.

I would think that Smith would want to avoid the clinch - as that's Le's strong suit with the San Shou and all. He wanted to stalk with punches a la Robbie Lawler and/or shoot on him. Le's got terrific wrestling and a digital friend of mine who's trained grappling a long time out in that San Jose region says his ground game is really solid. If anyone's beating him, it's either on the feet with some crisp boxing (which Smith doesn't possess) or it's by amazing takedowns and ridiculous top game control like Jacare.

Scott just seemed to have some success early on with the clinch game against the cage... I call it the couture approuch, in my opinion its one of the most tiring aspects of fighting and training...

with Li pressed against the cage you don't have to worry about his crazy kicks or strong punches anymore, and there are usually take downs available... If Scott was the bigger guy it seemed like this might be a good approuch...

but If Li has a great clinch game then yeah that could just be equally dangerous, it only takes a few good knees or some hooks in close to put a hurting on someone and once you get in close like that its hard to just break out safely...

Im still reeling from the Fedor fight... there are rumors of an instant rematch and I hope not... maybe the fight after his next if he doesnt retire...

I guess its a good thing it was almost a fluke submission from a simple mistake... as opposed to just getting beat up....

Le's undefeated in professional San Shou and took a couple bronzes in world amateur competition. It's a Chinese sport that really resembles kickboxing with a very limited amount of time to clinch and throw - and the throws count for points. Le's incredible at tossing people down from the clinch in unexpected ways very quickly.

I'm not sure how he'd do against a really prolonged clinch Couture-style, but his wrestling is pretty good. It's hard to beat him from the clinch - maybe better to work the boxing angle and move in as he starts to spin.

I think Scott Smith is going to be the first moderately well known MMA fighter to come out with traumatic brain damage. The guy takes too many shots during his fights and I bet sparring is similar for him.

I felt Fedor's loss too. But it's not strange the way it happened. Looked like he has lost all feeling for the different opponents, he's just so used to being able to overcome anything thrown at him. Expecting to be able to power through a triangle from someone of Werdums caliber in the beginning of a fight is when you've lost the touch. Will be very interesting to see a re-motivated and humbled Fedor in his next fight.

I say Lesnar knocks him out in the second round. It's odd that you say Carwin's shown himself to be more well rounded, since his fights have never gone past the first round. Lesnar systematically and very skillfully destroyed Mir on the ground (see this Bloody Elbow link for a better explanation, with gifs!), shattered Herring's eyesocket (although he boringly rode him to a decision) and got Couture pretty easily.

In all of those fights, only one blow's staggered him - Mir's knee in the clinch - and Carwin's been knocked down and taken down. I think the size disadvantage and the speed disadvantage make for an easy Lesnar victory.

But then again, I predicted that Fedor would destroy Werdum...

Also picking Lytle, Akiyama, K-sos, Pellegrino, Schaub, Petruzelli, Grove, Branch, Roberts and Madsen.
